Zhongjiang

Zhongjiang (中江) is situated in the northwestern region of the Sichuan Basin, and takes it name from the ancient Zhongshui region (now known as Luojiang). It is also one of the “two hundred players from modern China’s revolution and establishment,” and of particular importance, it is the hometown of the heroic soldier Huang Jiguang. Many customs are observed here, such as the Avalokitesvara Festival, Buddha’s Birthday and Cangshan Dale dance performances. There are many well-known local products, such as handmade fine dried noodles, eight treasures oil cake and the Zhongjiang pomelo. Scenic spots in the area include the Chinese Peony Valley, Zhongjiang North Pagoda and the Huang Jiguang Memorial Hall.
