Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area

Magnificent mountain with great hiking trails with great scenery. A must visit place for hikers. It is a great get away from the city. Get to enjoy the train ride with a great view of taipingshan. The ticket is also easily redeemable with the QR code at the entrance.



Yilan Zhangmei Grandma Farm

Required a bit of travelling time from Taipei. The park is not very big, split into 2 parts, roughly an hour-ish, it will be done. The animals are very tame, not aggressive. The second part of the park is more suitable for young kids.



National Center for Traditional Arts

Jiaoxi Hot Springs Park

Jiaoxi is really one of the most wonderful places I have ever been to. As soon as I leave the train station, there are hot spring pools everywhere in the city, and you can see people leisurely soaking their feet in the hot springs anytime and anywhere. The special geology of Yilan makes the surface water temperature of Jiaoxi Hot Spring 58 degrees, and the foot bath is soft and smooth and not sticky, so the tourism industry of Jiaoxi is also very developed. But please note that you must clean it in the small pool next to it before entering the foot soup.



Guishan Island

Guishan Island, also known as Guishan Islet, is the largest island in Yilan County and the only active volcano in Taiwan. It is named after its turtle-like appearance. Due to its prominent terrain, Guishan Island was once listed as a military stronghold and became a controlled area for the garrison of the National Army. On August 1, 2000, Guishan Island was officially opened to tourism. The special geology has formed many spectacular views, such as the Rising Sun on Guishan Mountain, the Smoke on Guidao Island, the Stalactites in the Spectacle Cave, the Turtle Eggs, the Cliffs of Turtle Rock, the God Turtle Wearing a Hat, and the Spirit Turtle Wagging its Tail.
