Republic Square

Republic Square in Yerevan is the heart of the Armenian capital and a symbol of its history and culture. Surrounded by majestic buildings such as the National History Museum and the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, it attracts tourists with its beautiful fountains and green spaces. In the evening, the square is filled with lights, creating a magical atmosphere. It is an ideal place to stroll and enjoy the local atmosphere.

Cascade Complex

The Yerevan Large Steps, a huge Soviet rotten project, were originally designed to link cascading waterfalls to the Step Garden. There are five terraces, arranged flower beds, fountains and pools, which can be reached directly by escalators. On the terrace, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the entire Yerevan and Alat Mountains. The ladder was built from the 1980s. Due to the Armenian earthquake, the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Naka conflict, the entire project was suspended. The top part is not yet complete, but it doesn't affect its spectacular, unique Soviet socialist architectural aesthetic

Armenian Genocide Museum

[Armenian Genocide Museum] The Armenian Genocide Memorial Hall is located on the "Yanbao" hill in Tsitsernakaberd southwest of Yerevan City, built in 1965 after the outbreak of the 50th anniversary of the genocide in Yerevan. The memorial is small, and the exhibition covers a wide range of subjects, including the situation of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire before the genocide, the genocide itself, the reactions of the world at that time, and the impact of genocide on later history. There were three of the most brutal massacres of the twentieth century. The people are familiar with the Nazis’ massacre of Jews in Germany and the Rwandan genocide in the 1990s. But not much is known about the Armenian genocide. Under Ottoman Turks, Christian Armenians were not recognized by Muslims. Armenians, historically known as thorns, have been fighting tyranny. When the Ottoman Empire was dying, fearing that Armenians colluded with Russia against them, they kept looking for a massacre of Armenians until the height of World War I. Similar to the fate of the Jews, Armenians had been slaughtered many times in the late 19th century, but not on a large scale. It was not until World War I that Ottoman joined Germany’s side, and became a counter-measure with Britain, France and Russia. When the world war broke out in 1914, Ottoman and Russia faced each other and suffered a fiasco. His government was more concerned about the Armenians joining Tsarist forces to attack them. According to records, Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire before World War I had 2 million people, and after World War I had dropped to 500,000. Armenians had been fighting the tyranny of the Ottoman Empire, and their resistance group, the Fifth Column, had been fighting with the help of Russia. The Ottoman government used this as an excuse to expel the Armenians on the Anatolian Peninsula and drive them to the desolate outer Caucasus, the wasteland and deserts I kept seeing along the way from my car, barren land. Finally, this drive-through policy escalated into the Holocaust. Although the number of deaths is not accurate, scholars generally believe that 10,000 people died during World War I. In 1991, Armenia gained independence from the Soviet Union and established its territory, only 11% of the Armenian plateau. This is somewhat of a trigger for the serious situation in the future in the Transcaucasus region. Address: 8, 8 Tsitsernakaberd Hwy, Yerevan 0028 Armenian Transportation: Take bus 70 or 87 on the side of the road below the Yerevan step Time: 10:00-15:30

History Museum of Armenia

The Yerevan National Historical Museum is the most worth checking out attraction in the city. The Art Museum is also in the same building, but tickets need to be purchased separately. museum J fine ticket is 2500AMD, if you are interested in history, you can Take a look. The museum is located on Republic Square. I often go to the J Concert Hall next door to attend concerts and always pass by. The museum is not very large; it displays collections from different periods. Many locals in Republic Square are relaxing and having fun here.

Saint Gregory The Illuminator Cathedral

9It is located in the heart of the city, like a dazzling star. It is not only a holy place of religious belief, but also a shining pearl of Armenian culture and history. The exterior design of the church combines the Byzantine and Armenian traditional architectural styles. The towering bell tower and dome shine in the sun, exuding a solemn and sacred atmosphere. From a distance, people can't help but want to get closer to find out. k Step into the church, wow, the magnificent decoration instantly makes people feel a kind of secular tranquility and solemnity. The walls are covered with exquisite murals and icons, each of which carries a profound religious significance and historical stories. Here, you can deeply appreciate the faith and emotions of the Armenian people while appreciating the beauty of art. The Yerevan Cathedral is not only the center of religious activities, but also a symbol of the Armenian national spirit. Every year on important festivals and anniversaries, grand religious ceremonies and celebrations are held here, attracting believers from all over the country to participate. At the same time, the church is also open to the public, becoming an important window for tourists to understand Armenian culture and history.

Cafesjian Center For The Arts

Rather than being an art center, it is basically a museum store with the door open. But this is the best point to climb up and overlook the city. Up to the top floor, it has not been finished. It is said that there is no money to build! If the weather is good, you can see the Atetra Mountain in the distance, which is beautiful.

Blue Mosque

【Blue Mosque】 The Yerevan Mosque was built around 1765 AD by the then local ruler Hussein Ali-Khan. Its main purpose was to serve as the most important Friday mosque in the area. The magnificent gate and the towering minaret of the mosque are inlaid with fine blue and green tiles, which are rich in color and dazzling, which is the origin of its name. There is a fountain in the center of the mosque courtyard, and other buildings in the temple are built around the fountain. The garden is mainly planted with elms, and there are public baths and schools nearby. During the Soviet rule, the mosque housed the Yerevan Museum. In the mid-1990s, the Iranian rulers rebuilt it on a large scale, which was basically completed in 1999. It is the largest mosque in Yerevan and the only remaining mosque built for Muslims in Armenia. Its name G?k Jami means Blue Mosque in Turkish. Address: 12 Mesrop Mashtots Ave, Yerevan 0015 Armenia Admission: Free

Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre

avatar

Yerevan Opera House and French Square are actually a crossroads. The statue of a French painter erected in the center of the circular square is a gift donated by the French government. It was designed by the famous Auguste Rodin. To the south of French Square is the Yerevan Opera House built in 1933, including a concert hall and a ballet theater that was completed in 1953. The designer is Alexander Tamanian himself. The Freedom Square in front of the gate was formerly known as the Opera Square or the Theater Square. On both sides of the square are bronze statues of Armenian composers and poets and writers, whose names I don't know. Freedom Square is also the main place for people to march and demonstrate, but it is peaceful on weekdays. Many teenagers who play BMX and skateboards practice here. It will become a children's playground on holidays, surrounded by large inflatable amusement facilities and tents.

Saint Mother of God the Mighty Church

avatar
路中寒梅
Located at the intersection of Sayat-Nava Ave and Abovyan st in Yerevan, not far from Republic Square, there is a very old and beautiful chapel in front of the church. It is said that many Armenian churches were demolished during the Soviet period, but this church was fortunately preserved because no one paid attention to it behind the house. Later, a new cathedral was built next to it, which is quite distinctive.
