I suddenly realized that the most precious thing about the Yellow Crane Tower is perhaps not the perspective of climbing high, but its identity as a cultural gene carrier. Every era has left its mark here: military aspirations in the Three Kingdoms period, literary sentiments in Tang and Song Dynasty, the bustling business travel in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and the current tourism economy. This time I went upstairs, I didn’t see the Yellow Crane in the poem, but I met something more real: a place that strives to maintain cultural dignity in the business tide, a group of ordinary people looking for poetry in fast food culture, and the self who wanders between the elevator and the poem. Perhaps as Cui Yan's poem said, this place finally "the smoke wave on the river makes people sad", but this sad mood, has been mixed with the complex understanding of the current life.


