This is my third visit to Guilin, and I can only say it's really suitable for those Guangdong tourists who only have a three-day two-night trip. If you don't know where to go, Guilin is a great place to satisfy your travel cravings. 1⃣️ Take the high-speed train directly to Yangshuo Station, then take a Didi or a 5 yuan bus from the nearby station to Xingping County. 2⃣️ Rent a small electric scooter from the hotel's back door; they are everywhere. Be bold and rent one. It's 20-25 for a day, and they generally won't rip you off unless there's serious damage. 3⃣️ Our itinerary today was ⛰️ Laozhai Mountain, in Xingping County of Yangshuo (ask any local shop owner in Xingping Town, they all know). We rode the electric scooter there and back. ❗️ The admission is free, and there's no one guarding it! You just need to be brave! The road along the way is not very good, and there might be some 'immortals'. Just pray for safety, and once you reach the top, you have to climb rocks to get to the panoramic view of the Li River landscape. ❗️ Don't go too late. Morning Misty Li River That night, a thunderstorm broke out, but fortunately, we had already seen the sparkling Li River during the day, because once there is a heavy rain, the water of the Li River will turn yellow. Listening to the thunder and pouring rain at night, I felt an unexpected sense of security. The thunderstorm that night seemed like the heavens were sentimental that we hadn't seen the misty Li River. On the third morning, we got up early and walked out of the homestay to another visual feast. There were already tourists coming and going on the road, and the locals had started doing business early—renting electric scooters, making fruit juices. We went down to the Li River from a free dock and strolled along the riverbank. On the morning of the third day, we had a Hanfu photo shoot. Tips The ferry car to Husband Mountain is very fast, we called the driver "Autumn Mountain Racing God", hold on tight during the ride; There are many snakes, rodents, and insects in Guilin, we encountered a cobra on the road, so be careful and ensure your safety. The locals say if you don't provoke it, it won't attack you; To visit Husband Mountain, you can choose a foggy morning to see the misty scenery, or the afternoon, because the morning is backlit, and the afternoon light is better; The Hanfu studio we went to is called Lanting Xu, and their service attitude is particularly bad, judging by the accent, they are from the Northeast. As night falls, compared to the bustling West Street in Yangshuo, Xingping Ancient Town, 20 kilometers away, seems particularly quiet. So much so that the magnificent sunset glow of the Li River and the fishing lights along the riverbank (Image 1, 2, 3) attract few onlookers. However, I must say, if you are a pure landscape tourist and photography enthusiast, Xingping is definitely the most worthwhile place in Guilin for you to stay. If you also like drone photography, then you must settle down in Xingping, as it is definitely the easiest spot to capture stunning aerial shots. Guilin's landscape is the best under heaven, and the most beautiful section is in Xingping, especially the famous '20 Yuan Renminbi View'.
