This is one of the reasons why Melbourne is so beautiful - the Yarra River runs through here. Park your car in the city of Vrontide and then stroll along the footpath. The surroundings are absolutely delightful and comfortable. If you want coffee or a snack, there are some good cafes and restaurants to choose from. There is a bakery near the sidewalk by the Yarra River that offers good coffee and meat filling. There are also some unique small cafes here, just a little far away, located near the bridge. It is less than an hour's drive from the city and can also be reached directly by bus.

warrandyte state park , nice green park and river side. great spot for having a cup of coffee in a sunny day !
This state park is easily accessible and is a great choice for cooling off on a hot summer day. You can swim in the river, where you can lay a picnic blanket and spend an afternoon there. If you are lucky, this is also a great place to hike through the forest and hike along the riverbank to catch a glimpse of koalas in the treetops!
Hiking around the bend has the chance to see lots of kangaroos. Hiking is relaxing and enjoyable. You will come to some grassy areas where the kangaroos are foraging. See my photos. Take a canoe, kayak, doughnuts (high intensity) and place them where the tunnel entrance is, making sure you are not attracted to the tunnel! Then let the current take you to the other side of the tunnel end. If you use the current, it will take about 4-6 hours, depending on the speed of the current. Otherwise, if you want to row, it will take about 1-2 hours.
Warrandyte was founded as a Victorian town located in the once gold-rich rolling hills east of Melbourne, Victoria, and is now on the north-eastern boundary of suburban Melbourne. Gold was first discovered in the town in 1851 and together with towns like Bendigo, Victoria and Ballarat, Victoria, led the way in gold discoveries during the Victorian gold rush. Today Warrandyte retains much of its past in its surviving buildings of the Colonial period and remains a twin community with North Warrandyte which borders the Yarra River to its north. Check out warranglen.com.au then do a leisurely drive to check out its sights n treats.
