Koshindo

Nara's Gengshin-do is located in the center of Nara-machi, where the blue-faced King Kong is enshrined. Legend has it that when the epidemic spread during Emperor Wenmu’s time, the monks of Yuanxing Temple prayed for the epidemic to disappear. On January 7 of that year, Blue Faced King Kong appeared and said to them, “I feel your sincerity, and the epidemic will be eliminated. "Shortly after the epidemic subsided, people built this Gengshen Hall to thank it. In addition to the blue-faced King Kong, the cultural properties in Gengshen Hall also include statues of auspicious fairies, thousand statues of Jizo, and Shuizi Jizo.
