Old Town area with preserved period buildings
Returning to the past is what it feels like to walk the streets here. We were the only Westerners, and there were very few Japanese. It was almost like a ghost town. The darkened wooden buildings w...
Among the Nakasendo connecting Edo (Tokyo) and Kyoto, the section passing through the steep Kiso Valley is called Kisoji. Kiso-cho Fukushima-juku is the fifth of Kiso 11-juku from Shinshu Matsumoto. It is about 10 minutes from the station. There is an atmosphere, but the scale is not large. It wasn't crowded when I visited, and there were restaurants and I was able to relax.
