Zhuhai and Macau Four-Day Three-Night Free Trip
This time, we planned a four-day three-night trip to Macau and Zhuhai. Although we haven't been to either place before, based on our previous experience in Hong Kong, it shouldn't be difficult, so we arranged a free trip.
At the beginning of the planning, the biggest concern was transportation. It's easy to search for itineraries online, and in the end, we found that the most convenient and fastest way is by taxi. For shorter distances, you can check the free shuttle bus routes of major hotels to save some money. There's also a light rail, but the routes are limited and it only accepts Macau currency, so this time we only took hotel buses and taxis (splitting the fare among four people is cost-effective) and walked part of the way.
Another important thing is the internet. I bought an eSIM with unlimited data for four days.
Next, let me introduce Chimelong Ocean Kingdom: It has eight themed areas and a spectacular "Whale Shark Aquarium," which is currently the world's largest marine fish exhibition hall. It houses various marine creatures, including several whale sharks and large sea turtles. There's also a 360-degree panoramic aquarium that offers a full view at a glance.
There are also many types of penguins, as well as rare Arctic wolves, Arctic foxes, and polar bears 🐻❄️.
Not only are there things to see, but there are also many thrilling rides suitable for all ages, including various roller coasters. It feels a bit like Hong Kong's Ocean Park or Hualien's Farglory Ocean Park, but bigger and enhanced. My favorite is the Parrot Coaster, which I think can satisfy thrill-seekers. Since we went in October, which is the off-season, the waiting time was only about 5-10 minutes.
Of course, you can't miss the performances in each area, such as the sea lion show, dolphin show, and beluga whale show.
The 5D movie in the park is a must-see. After watching the movie, you'll have a better understanding of the park's cartoon characters and scenes. Oh, and you might get a little wet 😄.
Since we bought a two-day one-night package, it included: a suite at the Circus Hotel, unlimited access to the park for two days, and a pair of tickets to the Chimelong Show. Breakfast was also included. Isn't it worth a visit?
When you're tired, you can go back to the hotel to rest, which is about a 10-minute walk away.
Besides these, there are many parades at different times. We were lucky enough to get a glow stick!
You must stay for the evening fireworks show, which is spectacular and dazzling. Since we stayed here for two days, we arrived on the first afternoon, checked into the hotel, but the room wasn't ready yet, so we stored our luggage and went to eat and walk around. When entering the park, you'll scan your face, so re-entering the park is quick and convenient with just a scan. Both the Ocean Kingdom and the hotel have various food options to fill your stomach. We ate at the Hong Kong-style tea restaurant at the Circus Hotel, had bak kut teh and spicy noodles outside the Penguin Hotel, and had steak in the park, which wasn't too expensive for an amusement park, and the taste was decent.
Key points: If you're staying for two days like us, I recommend starting on the right side of the park on the first day. Watch the dolphin show and the 5D movie first, then see the Chimelong Show at 5 PM. After the show, have dinner and then watch the 8 PM fireworks show. If you have time, you can also watch the night parade before the fireworks. The advantage is that on the second day, while everyone is watching the parade and fireworks, there will be fewer visitors at the Whale Shark Aquarium, so you can take great photos. After taking photos, you can leave without the crowd. Note this 🖊️. Since there are many shows and the park is large, if possible, watch some shows first so you don't have to rush around and tire your legs ✅.
