Encountering Knowledge and Seasons: The University of Tokyo and Artistic Tokyo
Day 1:
For this trip to Tokyo, I chose to start at the renowned University of Tokyo. Walking into the Hongo Campus in the early morning, the ancient Red Gate seemed to tell every visitor about the profound and long history of the university. The most captivating part of the campus for me was the Yasuda Auditorium, with its unique architectural style and historical significance. Walking along the campus paths, you can see towering trees and serene gardens everywhere, and the ginkgo avenue in autumn shines like a scene from a painting. For lunch, I chose an old café near the campus, where I had a simple yet heartwarming meal of curry rice and handmade desserts. In the afternoon, I continued exploring the campus, visiting the University of Tokyo General Library to soak in the rich atmosphere of books and academia. Afterwards, I headed to the nearby Ueno Park, where art and nature blend perfectly. I visited the National Museum of Western Art and admired many precious Western art collections, adding a rich touch to this cultural journey. In the evening, I strolled through the streets of Ueno and enjoyed an authentic sushi dinner, satisfying my taste buds with fresh flavors.
Day 2:
A new day began with a blend of Tokyo's tradition and modernity. In the early morning, I went to Sensoji Temple and made a sincere prayer in front of this historic temple. Then, I walked along Nakamise Street to buy souvenirs, with the aroma of traditional snacks like Ningyo-yaki and senbei adding a touch of joy to the morning. Afterwards, I took a boat along the Sumida River to Tokyo Skytree, where I ascended to the top to overlook the magnificent view of Tokyo's cityscape, capturing the rhythm of the city. In the afternoon, I returned to the bookish atmosphere of Jimbocho Bookstore Street, where every second-hand bookstore seemed to hold countless stories and memories. I found a precious antique book as a special memento of this trip. In the evening, I headed to Akihabara to experience the futuristic feel of anime and technology, immersing myself in the celebration of modern Tokyo culture. At night, I enjoyed a sumptuous wagyu meal at an izakaya near Tokyo Station, marking the perfect end to this journey.
