[2024 Alexandria Attraction] Travel Guide for Alexandria (Updated Nov)
GOOD VIBES ALEX! đȘđŹ
I enjoyed so much with travel to Alexandria as the best time to go in March and April as the city be more quite and in Winter. The best place when you take a fast boat in El Montazah Beach and take Break fast at Helnan Palastine as well a lunch at El Salamlik Resturant, there are many places in Alexandria you can enjoy.
Alexandria is Egypt's major port and the country's second largest city. Unlike the rest of the country, it is cool and wet in the winter, with refreshing Mediterranean breezes during the heat of summer. Alexander the Great founded the city in 332 BC on the site of a small fishing village, Rhakotis. Explore Alex people!

Embarking on an unforgettable journey through the enchanting cities of Alexandria and Cairo has been a dream come true! From the majestic Pyramids of Giza that rise majestically against the skyline to the rich history of Alexandriaâs ancient library and beautiful Mediterranean coastline, every moment feels like a step back in time.
Exploring the vibrant streets of Cairo, Iâve marveled at the intricate architecture of mosques and palaces, while immersing myself in the bustling bazaars filled with the scents of spices and the sounds of laughter. Each corner reveals a new story, a glimpse into the past that shapes the present.

Photography tips in Egypt
Through the car window, taking pictures of the old city of Alexandria with a mobile phone, many people saw me taking pictures, waved and greeted, and some even made a special expression.
In Egyptian scenic spots, if you take a picture of a guy who is pulling customers, you must pay a price, even if you take a picture of his camel, you have to pay. A girl took a picture of a local guy at the Sphinx and was asked for 10 dollars.
Outside the scenic spots, ordinary Egyptians are kind and friendly, and they have never asked for money for taking pictures.
But also try to avoid taking pictures of women's front, this is also the local custom, they do not take pictures of women when taking pictures, tourists must also respect.

Alexander Summer Palace Garden
On December 14th, round trip from Cairo to Alexander, after visiting the Summer Palace Garden, go directly to the airport to catch a flight.
There is a Summer Palace Garden in St. Petersburg, Russia, and there is also one in Alexandria, Egypt. This garden is called "Montaza Palace", but people often call it "Egypt's Summer Palace Garden". It was built in 1932 and was the summer palace of the last king of Egypt, Farouk, and his royal family!

Alexandria
Don't skip it if you're in Egypt. A place worth visiting for history, monuments and last but not least...the food, which is probably the best in Egypt.
My top 3 things to see:
1.the library of Alexandria. A true spectacle from an architectural point of view. One of the biggest and most beautiful libraries in the world
2. The corniche. It's basically the strip of land on the seaside where you can find plenty of restaurants, people roaming around
3. The Citadel of Qaitbay. The remainings of a 15th century fortress/citadel in quite decent conditions and full of history
Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt and Africa, is located about 200 kilometers from the capital Cairo. It is also the largest seaport in Egypt and is known as the "Bride of the Mediterranean".
Starting with Alexander the Great from Greece, the city's appearance is just like its name, a mix of retro and modern flair; with a history of being ruled by multiple countries, the meeting of different cultures, and the combination with ancient Egyptian culture, it sparks a unique charm.
Similarly bustling, but without the chaotic feeling of Cairo, Alexandria is a relatively comfortable Egyptian city. What impressed me was that government offices were still located in old buildings, and white-collar workers in suits and ordinary people mingled together in narrow streets, sitting quietly in roadside restaurants, meeting or dining.
After a short walk, you will reach a 26-kilometer-long seaside promenade, with rows of coconut trees on both sides and sandy-colored buildings standing against the sea breeze. Several worth-visiting historical sites are also scattered along the way. On this road, there are ports, beaches, small boats, mosques, and remaining castles, seemingly clear at a glance, but actually difficult to comprehend.
Vintage carriages, slow trams, casual pickups, black and yellow taxis, colorful double-decker sightseeing buses, free shuttle, seemingly chaotic but orderly. Compared to other places in Egypt, there are Chinese, Egyptian and Western cuisine, which is worth looking forward to.
Travel guide:
Transportation: Take a train from Cairo for a comfortable and convenient journey.
Attraction recommendations: Gabyey Castle, Alexandria Library, Montazah Palace (also known as the Summer Palace), Pompey's Pillar, the tomb of Kusukafa, and the Roman amphitheater. You can see them all in one day, and they are all located along the seaside road.
Recommended tour route: Alexandria Library - Qaitbay Citadel - Gebel el-Mawta Tomb - Pompey's Pillar - Roman Amphitheatre - Montaza Palace. The author recommends Alexandria Library - Qaitbay Citadel - Gebel el-Mawta Tomb - Montaza Palace.
Accommodation recommendation: Family guesthouses in inconspicuous alleys, affordable and economical, high-end hotels are also available, of course.
Suggested duration of visit: 1-3 days.
Other experience sharing:
1. Sit in the KFC next to the Coastal Avenue, where you can enjoy the sea view outside the window and the interesting passersby on the street.
2. The Alexandria Library, with a ticket price of 100 Egyptian pounds, is optional to visit. It is located in the university city and there are unique cafes nearby, although they are expensive, they are not to be missed.
3. The Gabi Castle by the seaside is suitable for watching the sunset. Even if you don't go inside for a visit, it's worth sitting outside and enjoying the view.
