2024 Panshan Mountain Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in November)
Tianjin has Panshan, so why bother going to Jiangnan?
Panshan is located to the east of Beijing, so it is known as the "No. 1 Mountain in the East of Beijing". It is said that at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the famous scholar Tian Chou refused the emperor's reward and lived in seclusion here, so it was called Tian Panshan, or Panshan for short. The main peak is Gua Yue Peak, which is 864 meters above sea level. During the Qianqing and Kangxi periods, it was known as the "No. 1 Mountain in the East of Beijing" at home and abroad. Emperor Kangxi visited it 32 times and wrote more than 1,700 poems, exclaiming "If I had known Panshan earlier, why would I have gone to Jiangnan?" In the early years of the Republic of China, Panshan was listed as one of the 15 famous attractions in China along with Mount Tai, West Lake, and the Forbidden City. Now it is a national 5A-level scenic spot.
Precautions:
1⃣️ Be sure to prevent mosquito bites! Especially for parents with children.
2⃣️ There are many supply stations on the mountain, with food, drinks, and entertainment. It is quite rich, and there are toilets.
3⃣️ Wear sports shoes, dress comfortably, preferably long pants and long sleeves, and pay attention to sun protection.
4⃣️ You can bring a trekking pole, which can really help. If you don't have one, it doesn't matter if your leg joints are fine. Almost every supply point on the mountain sells trekking poles and peach wood sticks, so you can buy them at any time if you want.
5⃣️ Prepare a mask. If you don't take the Yun Song cable car, you will go through a long dirt road.
6⃣️ Prepare a long-sleeved jacket. It will be cool when you reach the top or go down the mountain in this season.
