The Sacred Mountain of the Naxi People

Yulong Snow Mountain is one of the famous attractions in Lijiang and is considered a sacred mountain by the Naxi people. It consists of 13 peaks that stretch and undulate like a silver dragon flying, hence the name. Visitors can take a cable car directly up the mountain to easily enjoy the magnificent high-altitude glaciers, which is a highlight for many tourists. Yulong Snow Mountain is renowned for its 'danger, uniqueness, beauty, and elegance.' From the foot to the top of the mountain, there are multiple levels of landscapes ranging from subtropical, temperate, to frigid zones. The foot of the mountain, Gan Haizi, is a vast pasture where gentians and rhododendrons bloom in spring and summer. From here, the peaks of Yulong are clearly visible. Yunshanping, at an altitude of over 3200 meters, is a holy place in the hearts of Naxi youth. It is a quiet meadow surrounded by towering ancient trees and dense vines, offering a tranquil environment. Below the 13 peaks of Yulong, there are 19 modern maritime glaciers that look like waterfalls hanging from the steep slopes of the mountain, shimmering in the sunlight. Visitors can take the main cable car to an altitude of 4506 meters and then walk along the mountain path to closely observe the glaciers and the majestic main peak. The popular cable car in the scenic area transports visitors from the lower station at Gan Haizi to the Glacier Park at an altitude of 4506 meters. After getting off the cable car, visitors can walk along the wooden path laid on the glacier to reach the highest point at 4680 meters, experiencing the charm of the snow mountain and glaciers up close. The lower station of the cable car is located by the Baishui River at the foot of the snow mountain and can be reached by taking the scenic area's eco-friendly bus. Taking the Yunshanping cable car can reach Yunshanping at an altitude of 3240 meters, which is a good spot to view the peaks of Yulong Snow Mountain from a distance. Yak Meadow is a large meadow located on the other side of Yulong Snow Mountain, about 15 kilometers from Yunshanping. Climbing up Yak Meadow offers a different perspective to admire Yulong Snow Mountain.
