Former site of Nisshin Trading Company.

The Nisshin Trading Company Building in Hankou is located at the intersection of Yanjiang Avenue and Jianghan Road in Jiang'an District, Wuhan. It was the Hankou branch of the Japanese Nisshin Steamship Co., Ltd. The building was designed by the British firm Jardine Matheson & Co., and built by Han Xiesheng Construction Factory in 1928. The building is a steel-reinforced concrete structure with five floors above ground and one floor below ground, and is designed in a three-section composition. The ground floor is built with horizontal granite, and the main entrance is located on the Yanjiang Avenue facade, with a long, arched window on each side of the arched gate, and two Tuscan stone columns supporting the entrance hall. The building has a separate entrance at the intersection of the two streets. The entrance itself is very plain, but there is a rectangular window recessed above it, with Ionic pilasters on both sides, and a curved pediment on top, which is a unique design. Between the third and fourth floors, there are Ionic double columns, with exquisite bas-relief decorations at the bottom and top of the columns. In the middle of the top floor, there is a Roman-style dome, surrounded by Tuscan double columns, with a Baroque-style small round hole on the helmet-shaped top, and the dome ends with a small pavilion, ending this complexly decorated building. The intersection of Yanjiang Avenue and Jianghan Road, where the building is located, was one of the most prosperous areas in the British Concession. The Yangtze River is to the south, and the southern end of Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street is to the north. The building is opposite the famous Jianghan Pass Building and is in a prime location. Its unique architectural style and historical background make it an important cultural heritage.
