Mount Bromo: A Majestic Volcano and a Must-See Sunrise

Mount Bromo is one of the most beautiful volcanoes in the world and is an active volcano, also being one of the most active on Java Island. The sunrise here is even rated as one of the must-see sunrises in a lifetime. Mount Bromo, also known as Mount Brahma, is a volcano in Indonesia located in the eastern part of Java Island. It is administratively managed by the East Java province and has an elevation of 2,329 meters. The volcano has a north-south diameter of 800 meters and an east-west diameter of 600 meters, located about 150 kilometers southeast of Surabaya on East Java Island. It is situated within the massive caldera of Mount Tengger. The Tengger caldera was formed about 800,000 years ago and now has a diameter of 10 kilometers. Indonesia has a rainy season and a dry season. The rainy season usually runs from November to April of the following year, while the dry season is from May to October. According to locals, the best travel season is from February to April, which is the transition period from the rainy season to the dry season. There is a higher chance of seeing a sea of clouds during this time, and there are also relatively fewer tourists. July and August are the peak tourist seasons for Mount Bromo because there is no rain and no clouds to obstruct the view, making it an excellent condition for photographing the Milky Way and starry skies! However, the number of visitors will be relatively higher, which might make it a bit crowded. The crowd decreases between September and October, but be aware that if you come in late October, you may encounter rainfall. After arriving in Surabaya, the route via Probolinggo to the village of Cemoro Lawang is usually the most chosen. Stay in this small town for one night, and the next morning, take a jeep to start the climb, which is very close. Near the volcano, there is also a Hindu temple with a very magnificent view.
