' Emperor Yan, also known as Shennong, was the revered leader of the Jiang surname tribe in ancient China. He was also known as Kui Wei, Lian Shan, and Lie Shan, with another title of Zhu Xiang. The era of Emperor Yan was the Neolithic Age, and there are various claims about his birthplace, including Baoji in Shaanxi, Lianshan in Huitong County of Hunan, Suizhou in Hubei, Gaoping in Shanxi, and Zhecheng in Henan. The Emperor Yan Shennong Birthplace Scenic Area is located in Lishan Town, Suizhou County, about 18 kilometers northwest of the Suizhou city center. The scenic area covers an approximate area of 171.3 hectares. The Emperor Yan Shennong Grand Hall faces south with its back to the north, covering an area of 6,600 square meters. It features a high platform with round columns and straight eaves, reflecting the style of the Qin and Han dynasties, simple and solemn. It is situated in the belly of Lishan, extending forward to the opposite Jiulong Mountain, forming a central axis. The completed and restored core attractions include the Shennong Grand Hall, Ancestor Worship Square, Sacred Fire Altar, Merit Hall, Wanfa Temple, Lishan Lake, Jiukong Bridge, Sunrise Garden, and Crescent Lake. All are man-made attractions, but the air quality is good.
