A Dai village for summer retreat, the thousand-year-old Manzhen Village

Located in Gasa Town of Jinghong City in Xishuangbanna, Manzhen Village is a Dai village with a history of a thousand years. Dai Pottery Experience Another feature of the Dai village is the slow-wheel Dai pottery. The pottery here is all made by hand on a slow wheel. The brick-red pottery has a strong local character. Slow-wheel pottery is the oldest pottery-making method, dating back to ancient times, preserving traditional and simple charm. You can enter the workshop and experience it yourself for about 100 yuan. Manzhen Temple The center of the village is the Manzhen Buddhist Temple, a hundred-year-old double-eaved Xieshan-style building, with a collision of gold and red, carved with the unique Dai green peacock totem. Admission is free. Prajna Temple Climbing up the mountain along the Manzhen Buddhist Temple, a 20-minute walk will take you to the back mountain of Manzhen Village, where the all-silver Prajna Temple is located. Prajna Temple was built during the Peacock Dynasty, and the history that can be traced back to now is the Southern Song Dynasty. The original Prajna Buddhist Temple was 8.2 meters high, with two Buddha relics enshrined inside. The temple was rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty, and four Buddha ancestor relics were enshrined at the base of the pagoda. The pagoda is a silver lotus spire building with exquisite carvings displaying Dai totems. Admission is free.
