The place is inviting and beautiful, worth a visit. There was wonderful service and many complimentary items as well, such as breakfast, cheese and wine, and milk and cookies.
Everything was very nice especially considering the age.
What caught our attention most probably is that they have a cat, miss sally, who is just out and about, and is a sweet
little surprise

Beautiful hotel with an historical feel. The lobby and my room was very clean. The only complaints I have were the scratches all on the tables and caulking in shower were coming apart. Just makes me wonder what does maintenance do? Being that my husband is a director of maintenance at an historic hotel. He pointed these things out and said this could cause for a great place to end up not being so great. Also the shower door just seems to be stuck or just needing some maintenance. Other than that, the housekeeping staff was very nice and did a great job on my stayover service

I booked this hotel because I'm a sucker for older buildings with Art Deco architecture. When I walked into the lobby, i was pleased...it appeared to have delivered in that department. The gold elevators, the floors, the fixtures were all exactly what I was looking for. Sadly, once we got up to our room, the charm of the hotel ended with a thud. The room was dark. We fumbled for the light switch, and a single low-watt lightbulb flickered on by the bed. The rest of the stay, I tried to get some kind of illumination (other than the flashlight on my phone) but was thwarted at every attempt. The floor lamp's bulb was burnt out. Other switches did nothing. The curtains were impossible to budge or even reach. It felt like we were in a cave...a cave with dated carpeting and beat up furniture. It's sad, because this building could be such an amazing hotel if they put a little love and design into the rooms. We ate at the restaurant downstairs for dinner and it was pretty good. Over all, however, I say thumbs down. Kimpton, I thought you guys would do better than this!

Jay Arce at the Winston-Salem Marriott butcher and bull bar is amazing! He is so welcoming and remembers everyone’s name and favorite drink from the first time he meets them. The staff was very courteous while we stayed here during a snow storm. Housekeeping, front desk staff and Nicole at the Bistro on Sunday night Jan. 16, have done a splendid job. We were very comfortable here and will stay here again. Judith Smith

I asked to have the general manager call me. Still waiting. So I'm posting. On Friday June 9 I left my room around 8 a.m. I returned around 7:05 p m. TO FIND MY DOOR PROPPED OPEN. How long it was like that, who knows??? I immediately CALLED the hotel while standing in front of my PROPPED OPEN DOOR. IT RANG FOR OVER 20 MINUTES. I them closed my door and proceeded down to the front desk, phone still ringing the front desk. I stood there for ANOTHER 5 MINUTES and the front desk representative finally came back, with her cell phone in hang. I asked her to call the manager. She said she didn't have his number. I said ” I'm certain if the hotel was in fire you would call him. So you do have his number.' I made her go up with me to check out the room. She did make the comment ”well the door is closed”. I said, no kidding. I wasn't going to leave it open any longer!! When I checked in on Thursday and went to iron my clothes, I found my iron smashed in a bunch of pieces. I walked down to the front desk to get a new one. The lady said she'd bring a new one right up. So I went back to my room. 40 MINUTES LATER, still no iron. I went back downstairs, stood at the front desk and a minute later, that same lady walked out of the back room. ON HER PHONE. She asked how she could help. I said I'm still waiting for an iron. And she stated: oh, he didn't bring one up? I said I have no idea who HE was. I had a question for the lady at the front desk on Friday morning. She was standing there, I walked up, she ignored me for 30+seconds BECAUSE SHE WAS ON HER PHONE. The associates being ON THEIR PHONE is a big thing at this hotel. Maybe 'when the cat's away the mice will play”???

There is a new Marriott hotel in downtown Winston-Salem, NC - the Courtyard by Marriott. Because it is new, the facilities are clean, modern, and in great shape. The bedroom is pretty spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. A two queen bed room had four, comfortable pillows for each bed. There is a Keurig coffee maker and a min-fridge in the room. The decor is attractive. Bathroom was very clean, which one would expect. The TV was large screen and HBO was included. If you have password access to Prime and Netflix, those are available as well. There is a small bar in the lobby where you can get coffee and a breakfast in the morning or drinks from 5-10 pm. There is also a roof-top bar that was nice. Parking is inexpensive in a parking deck immediately adjacent. But, there are a couple of issues: (1) our room air conditioner had a loud pitched squeal every time it came on and the fan was noisy. We had to turn it off to sleep at night, but that worked because the temps here were mild. The carpet under the unit was soaked a bit. (2) I think the tub was too shallow to take a bath, but the shower was a good one, but why have a tub if it's too shallow for a bath. A walk-in shower would have been better; (3) while it is ”downtown”, it is not right downtown like the other Marriott. Expect a four block walk at the minimum to the where the core of downtown is located. Essentially, the basics are very good, but you won't be wowed by it. Still very worth the cost for a very nice room

My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend in Winston-Salem. We always stay at Hilton affiliated properties, so we booked for 2 nights at this property due to location and amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby and pool areas were extremely nice. We had a king junior suite, which was nice in size. The bed was super comfortable. Here are a few suggestions for improvement: the a/c unit was not in the “bedroom” part of the suite, so it got very hot laying in bed. The a/c unit is an older model…there was a wall thermostat but it didn’t work. The bathroom looked all new, but there was a ton of mold in the shower. Wallpaper was peeling of the walls in the hall. The carpet in the hallway on the first floor needed a serious cleaning. Would I come back, yes…but I do think this property needs to work on the details.

Outstanding
We had an exceptional stay at the elegant Summit Street Inn. From the moment we made our reservation, the service was top-notch. Upon arrival, we were greeted with wine waiting in our room, setting the tone for a truly memorable stay. The check-in process was seamless and easy. The staff was not only professional but also warm and welcoming, offering excellent hospitality throughout our visit. The inn exudes charm and offers a beautiful and luxurious atmosphere. We highly recommend the Summit Street Inn to anyone seeking a refined and elegant experience.
GGuest UserThe room was very clean and spacious for a double queen. The pool was actually warm, and nice to use, with a very clean area. The staff was so friendly and accommodating to needs. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Only complaint is the price of staying at any hotel, but for the price, you get things that make for a good stay. Nice hot breakfast included.
ZZHAOJIEAlthough it is a 20-minute drive from the high-point exhibition, this hotel is very cost-effective, parking is convenient, there are many restaurants around, and it is quiet. I recommend this hotel for business trips. And the front desk has a contact form for takeaway, very intimate!
GGuest UserIn town for 1 night to visitan ill parent. Booked this location last minute online. We had a pet so we paid an additional $15 fee for the dog. Mattress was adequate for one nights sleep. But the room needed some housekeeping attention. The bath towels were full of hair...not ours. The vanity light and ceiling were disgustingly stained. Hotel was in no way accommodating to the comcerns. I was offered my $15 pet fee back. WHAT...my pet was not the problem. The probpem is the lack of sanitation, attention and customer service at this location. The lady who checked us out said she was going to check the towels. THEY SHOULDVE BEEN CHECKED BEFORE YOU GAVE US THE ROOM...NOT WHEN WE ARE LEAVING. Although they are independently owned I will be contacting Choice and sharing the photos.
GGuest UserChose the location due to proximity to family we were visiting. Location is great -- close to highways, mall, and lots of restaurants. Once inside, though, we were surprised at the age of the hotel and its need for updates and repairs. The elevator was small and finicky; it liked to alarm for no reason when getting in. The hallways were hot and needed vacuuming. Our room was very spacious, with the door to the hall and bathroom placed at an angle to increase accessibility. The carpet in the room was stained, there was a hole punched in the wall, mildew on the shower curtain, a pink mystery stain on the ceiling in the shower, dead insects in the ceiling light in the bathroom, no extra toilet paper (we quickly ran out), and no tissues in the built-in tissue holder on the sink. Relatives of ours in another room said their soap holder shelf in their shower was ripped out and there was a hole in its place--no covering/tape/anything. We were informed that there would be no maid service during our stay (if staying less than 7 days) due to lack of staff, so if we needed anything, you had to go to the front desk for it. Breakfast was available; the only hot items were waffles or instant grits (hot water was available). Overall, the property seemed in need of a deep clean at a minimum, or at best, an update. The price is reasonable, but I would rather pay a bit more for a better-kept property with daily maid service available.
GGuest UserMy experience was taxing to say the least. I arrived, after working an eight-hour day and traveling five hours, to a room that had old urine stains at the base of the toilet (both sides). The staff immediately provided a replacement, but it had the same issue. The third room was much better but clearly had not been used or dusted in a long time. The staff member did state that they do not typically have much business. I would expect that there is ample time to clean the rooms, even spot-checking the ones not in use. If I had had the energy, I would have taken the loss and gone to a different hotel. Luckily, I was checking out after two nights. I will not be returning, frequenting any Baymont properties, or recommending to anyone.
GGuest UserSleep inn is the best and most comfortable hotel chain in the United States, at a reasonable price. The bed and the bed were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very rich and the passengers were of high quality and clean.
GGuest UserFilthy, musty hallways. Only good thing is clean bedding in room. Bathroom looked like a 2 year old caulked the repairs, chipped pain all over bathroom and ceiling in room. Elevator under repair, freight elevator sounded like it was ready to break. Upon arrival told pool was closed yet there were children swimming in it. Tiles in entryway to hotel all cracked and crumbling, covered over with rugs...Total tripping hazard . Neighborhood was terrible. I was actually approached by panhandler in a fast food restaurant 2 blocks away. If I hadn't been so tired (I drove quite a distance that day) we would have gone further down the road on our journey.
GGuest UserThis is a wonderful place to say besides some minor glitches. It’s now going on 24 hrs since we turned in our towels and have yet to receive fresh ones. When asked about receiving them the young lady responded with “we are out”. So we shall wait and see if we receive any today. Other then this one incident we have never had issues here before. My family and I strongly recommend staying here.!
