This was not what I expected at all. I needed 2 beds for 3 people. I booked a double studio. Please understand that these beds are very small. Full size maybe. AC unit was extremely loud. Had to turn it off to get some sleep but I’m sure the bed also contributed to my sleep issue. When I asked about changing rooms, it’s $50 for a room cleaning fee and $80 to upgrade a Queen bed with a Queen pullout sofa. Also, the building we are in has 1 adult pool. I have a child why would you place me in this building? The building next door has all the amenities, pools, fitness center, recreational activities. You have to walk outside to enter the other building. For the AC unit noise, they say they will send someone to check it out. Idk…

The pool area is great, kiddie pool, indoor pool and outdoor pool with a bar (very priced drinks but good food). Overnight someone above vomited down hitting the railing and spraying our patio. It took 3 calls with promises of sending someone up and 7 hrs before anyone came. I eventually called corporate Hilton and then someone came. Found a used a q tip under the bedroom chair and a few barettes and toys in the pull out sofa. No top sheets or bottom sheets for sofa. The location is great, not far from Neptune Park. I’d be uneasy staying again given the cleaning issues. The front desk staff at check out was nice enough to waive resort fees when I told her that it was so long to have the patio cleaned.

What a pity that in such a central location, there is little pleasure to be had from staying at this hotel. The receptionist was cold and unsmiling, with not a hint of welcome. The room had a decent bed, but with only a sheet and cover. There were two polyester blankets on a shelf and I had to unzip them and put both on the bed to get reasonably warm in the cold and windy May weather. The room heater/cooler is a metal box attached to the wall right next to one of the beds. Every time the thermostat turns it on or off the noise is enough to jolt you awake. I ended up wearing foam earplugs. There is no breakfast available in the hotel, and no microwaves in the rooms. Although arriving by car is pretty much the only option, parking is charged at $7 plus tax a night. After leaving here, I checked in at a hotel of similar standard and vintage at my next destination, Ocean City, and the contrast was striking: a super friendly receptionist, a full comforter on the bed, a restaurant with breakfast for purchase and free parking. There are dozens of other options along Virginia Beach: choose one of them instead of this place.

The location of the hotel is excellent, parking is convenient, and the sea view is invincible. The living room and bedroom of the suite are separated for easy sea view and rest. You can sit in the living room and watch the sea, or you can go to the balcony to see the wider sea. It is worth mentioning that the balcony windows are very soundproof. Breakfast is also very good.
If the air conditioning sound is a little smaller, the wireless network effect is better, it is perfect.

I wanted to start by saying “how come nobody picks up their toll free number or even their regular line?” Maybe because I’m calling from Canada?!? And they don’t want my business?! or under new mgmt?!?Anyway I booked through their website and Thank God it was successful. This is our 4th visit here in the same place, Schooner Inn Virginia Beach… we love the area it’s quite and it’s near fishing spot (no need to pay unlike in the pier) But this visit was totally different since there was an event East Coast Surfing Championship and some Oceanfront Concert a lot of people around the area but it’s all good. My kids really had a blast after all this was a trip planned even before Covid hits, we waited for the borders to open. Now about the hotel… I would’ve given this hotel a 5 to 4 stars because of the disappointment about calling their front desk even my phone in our room doesn’t work, good thing I have roaming so I can call within the area. From 4 to 3 stars… kitchenette needs new utensils and some serious cleaning, vents, toilet seats and paints. I pretty sure the housekeeping people are doing the best they can and the one who’s in charge on our floor she’s very nice always asking if we need anything. Lastly… I don’t mind the smell of **** (I’m frm Canada thats normal) but within the elevator with kids around I mean c’mmon atleast have some air freshner. We’re still coming back for sure and I hope by then some stuff are updated and they’ll pick up their phones.
GGuest UserLet me say this is my 3rd vacation here and the WORST. WE drove 9 hours for this trip ! I booked a one bedroom suite and paid a premium for it. Sadly I had more cons than pro's. Here we go.... I KNOW its post-covid and things are different BUT--it does NOT give a hotel ”carte blanche” to give you horrible service. Con's: 1. WE checked in and noticed no chair on oceanfront balcony, I called 4 times in 12 hours and had to wait 24 hours to get one. 2. The furniture in the one bed room suite. We had a couch with chaise, 4 chair dinette--the couch with build in chaise you sank to the floor. It was AWEFUL. It hurt our backs and it was not comfortable at all(it was very old, used and saggy). A couch found on a curb in front of a frat house would be more comfy. I will say the two queen beds were very comfy. 3. The Room--We had to clean our rooms, empty the trash, put our dirty towels in a basket outside our room, request our towels-trash can liners, shampoo. We also had to VACUUM THE ROOM OURSELVES. I requested our room swept after 3 days and after 3 or 4 requests and RUNNING after a maintenance man did I get a vacuum. It was handed to me--(I had called front desk multiple times, never did anyone come)-so I swept my suite myself. 4, Our room was adjacent the ice machine and there was a tall trash can there. Many rooms dumped their trash bags there and once can was filled they put it on the floor. I called front desk AGAIN 3/4 times over 2 days. Finally on the 4 th day it was emptied. 5. Front Desk. Towards the end of my stay, I walked to the front desk and there was an employee roll her eyes when she saw me coming--maybe it was because she was very visibly pregnant ?? There was a nice man there--and he tried, he name was ”Damon”? 6. Laundry Room on 6th Floor. There was TONS AND I MEAN TONS of lint, dryer sheets and trash on the floor. There was a trash can in the laundry but am not sure why floor was filthy with trash. Pros: People this hotel has the best out door pool in Virginia Beach. Its always clean and it has a hot tub, plenty of umbrellas and chairs. The staff outside were very nice, and accommadating. The bar drinks were awesome and priced reasonable. Also the food at the bar was very good. Breakfast was not bad. It had low fat items. Only complaint here my daughter loves peanut butter toast--this Hotel had no peanut butter and no bread to toast. So we bought bread and peanut butter at the local store. Hotel grounds was clean as was garage, and common areas. Maybe the person running the pool should run the hotel? Sadly I won't be back. I may never return to a Marriott property again after this. If I am going to pay what I paid for this vacation, I will rent a VBRO for I got no pampering, no service inside, and it felt like I was a maid for a week.
GGuest UserI am writing because there has been questionable reviews on this hotel. I went for 4 nights mid July with my daughter. We stayed in a 2 room suite on the 2nd floor. Staff - all very nice and friendly from the front desk to maintenance and housekeeping. Our key needed to be re-magnitized multiple times, no issue. My rental car's battery died and a maintenance worker brought his own car over to help. Parking - yes it is a small lot, what would you expect on ocean? I only had one late night where I had to park around the corner. It is short walk, no issues. Location - perfect! You can walk to so many restaurants and shop too. The beach access was great and if you want to rent a chair, there is a spot without walking far. We had a great trip and would definitely stay again.
GGuest UserThis hotel has been very poorly maintained. Issues with the first room we checked into: the carpet was wet (from an animal or another liquid?), filthy and tattered furniture. Due to the wet carpet, we requested a different room. Second room: we were given a key to an occupied room (awkward and major security concern). Third room: slightly less disgusting (maybe)—the furniture was still dirty, kitchen floor was sticky, missing adequate kitchen items, no extra linens for sofa bed. Brown stains on linen (gross!). Dirty tub (even though there was a strong bleach smell upon entrance). Missing handle in bathroom. Handles for sink were missing the decorative hardware—what was there is the part that is supposed to be covered by the actual handles. Stained curtains. Worn out cushions for chairs and couch. The women’s lobby bathroom was falling apart. The breakfast was very average. We have had better at other Homewood Suites. The person running the breakfast struggled to keep items stocked. It did not seem busy, but either way, send someone to help her if needed. Children could not touch any food or serving item—we travel a lot, and my kids have always been able to get their own breakfast. No coffee or hot water was available after breakfast. I could smell **** in the hallway—gross! Front desk was friendly, on the upside. There seemed to family members/friends of employees hanging out on hotel premises for extended time—not very professional. I used to work for a major hotel chain, and that would have never been tolerated. All in all, I can’t believe a major hotel chain would let a property go so neglected. I would not recommend this hotel.
GGuest UserThe team at the front desk was very welcoming upon our arrival. Though obviously older, our room was nice and clean. The view was fabulous, as we had a full oceanfront view. Access to the beach was right outside the back door. The room has a refrigerator and microwave. Breakfast was decent and more than simple “continental style”. There were egg frittatas, home style breakfast potatoes, sausage patties and of course a make your own waffle station with lots of toppings, various breakfast pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit cocktail, fresh fruit options and a few juice options as well. We were close to the pier and lots of shops, restaurants and bars. Currently, floors 6-10 are already renovated and they cost more; maybe worth it. It took some effort to get/keep our room as cool as we like it. Overall, I would stay here again.
GGuest UserExcellent place to stay. Nice and very friendly staff. Great location! Bedrooms are separate from the other room. That's a plus for privacy. Pool area is awesome. I have been coming to this hotel for many years. Love it every time. I recently stayed over a week. Love love love it. The beach is right out the door.
YYUJUANVery good location, sea view room. But the facilities are poor, the room has no quilt, only the sheets, the air conditioner does not open the cold, and the heat is still like a bomber, it is not exaggerated. I am afraid I can't stand the light sleep. There is basically nothing for breakfast, that is, bread, milk, and drinks.
GGuest UserLocated at the lower end of beach, it is convenient to the ocean beach, and restaurants. Pool looked inviting, but was geared to the younger crowd. Remodeled bathroom and tile, although it was incomplete in spots, on balcony.
Check- in is weird as done on an iPad with remote agent. This hotel also charged an “xtra” fee at check-in. Night agent is very rude- and pulling up to register is not convenient. Parking is across the street and not on property. Rooms are mostly partial ocean view .
We managed, but probably not stay here again.
GGuest UserThe hotel needs a lot of updating. The elevator is slower then ever. You’d wait a good 10 mins just for it to stop on your floor. The one Indian lady at the front desk always had an attitude and was rude. The one step in the stair way has messed up stairs and you could see where multiple people dropped cups and food and items from falling (that needs fixed) other then that my family enjoyed our stay but won’t be staying back at this hotel again.
We left the hotel cleaner then when we arrived.
GGuest Userlocation was nice, the main part of the room was very clean and nice looking but the bathroom was in need of a shape up. there was a huge hole in the wall which they covered up with a towel rack, the shower had cracks in it and the toilet paper was just sitting out there was no holder. the shower curtain bar was nothing but rust and the curtain itself was moldy. the “kitchen” area was also very rundown. the cabinets were filled with rust and just stunk.
