Hotel Sokrat

Tirana Center
Small hotel just 10 minutes' walk from the central Skanderberg Square. The rooms are spacious, very clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Since Tirana is densely built up, you can't expect a nice view here. The service team is very friendly and will accommodate all your requests. Only breakfast is offered here, but that's not a problem because there are various restaurants in the streets opposite. There is no breakfast buffet, but a menu from which you can choose between various dishes from savory to sweet, freshly prepared in the kitchen. This has the small disadvantage that you may have to wait a while for breakfast if the dining room is full. Unfortunately, one negative thing I have to say about the hotel in general is that the room doors are difficult to close, i.e. you have to slam them shut. This can be annoying in the evening/night when new guests arrive or perhaps come in late from the city. Important information: there is no elevator. Guests have to carry their luggage up the stairs themselves. Personally, it doesn't bother me, but I know that it is important for other guests.

Overall, this hotel provided a satisfactory experience during my five-night stay over the Easter break. However, I believe it falls short of its advertised four-star rating and would more aptly be classified as a decent three-star hotel. While there are positive aspects to highlight, such as the spacious rooms and comfortable beds, several issues detracted from the overall experience. One significant issue was the inconsistency in room amenities and cleanliness. On the first night, the absence of functioning air conditioning in the room made it very uncomfortable to sleep. Despite of the weather reaching to 27C during the day. Staff members recommended not to open the windows, so you can imagine how hot the room was with no windows opened and no A/C. I’ve asked for a fan but they din’t have one. Luckily I was not the only guests complaining and the following day the A/C was on and I had a great night sleep. Subsequent nights saw lapses in basic housekeeping, with missing toiletries and unattended cleanliness issues. Although these problems were reported to the reception, they persisted throughout the stay. (ie missing toilet paper one night, another night no soaps or hand towels, etc) Regarding the bathroom, while it boasted ample space and cleanliness, the design of the wet room-style shower led to water splattering outside the designated area, posing safety hazards and necessitating additional towel usage, contradicting the hotel's eco-friendly claims. Breakfast offered a decent variety, but temperature issues detracted from the dining experience( it was either very hot or too cold). Malfunctioning equipment, such as the toaster (not working properly) and buffet heating trays (not being used - hence no hot food), required constant assistance from staff, indicating a lack of maintenance and organisation. One notable observation was the absence of a managerial presence, which contributed to a sense of improvisation and hindered efficient problem-solving. Despite positive interactions with the friendly and accommodating staff, the overall experience did not align with the hotel's purported four-star standard. Consequently, I would classify it as a competent three-star establishment, failing to meet the expectations set by its previous reviews.
Albanopolis Hotel

We stayed here for 3 nights, and must say that although the accommodation feels more like a 3-star level hotel, the extra effort made by the staff to accommodate us must be regarded. The hotel Manager (we believe he was) picked us up from the airport and despite the language barrier, made us feel welcome to Albania and to the hotel (It was our first time in the country). We were a party of three and booked the Superior Suite, which was spacious and clean; the Jacuzzi tub was a pleasant feature. Breakfast was average, location is not quite in the touristy part of the city, but still not far from the main attractions. Some great restaurants are within 5 minutes of walking ( we went to Spaghetti House, Oslo Bar and Pasta e Basta). The staff at the hotel (day and night were super helpful and some spoke English) and again the manager /driver was simply the best for taking us to a market and also to our next hotel in Durres, for way less than it would normally cost us. There is nothing bad that we could say about Albanopolis other than the fact that it is fifteen minutes walk to Skanderbeg Square and BunkArt 2, but 5 minutes in a taxi and you are at these two locations.
Keit Hotel

Location: About 20 minutes walk from the city centre or Skanderbeg Square. A supermarket is located in the cellar of a modern shopping centre (on the big crossing) about 5 minutes. The bus station is only 2 minutes. The hotel is located about 50 meters from the street. Welcome: extremely positive. I was already at 7 a.m. at the hotel (by the bus from Athens) and since a room was available, I was allowed to check in so early without any extra cost. So the young man at the reception as well as the manager spoke excellent English. In the night, you met in the lobby for a little stick. Rooms: extremely large room, with a furniture excellent for Albanian relations. All looks like a little ”oldbacken”, but it is not – in any case. TV and refrigerator available. Please do not compare with the Marriott Standard. Breakfast: Absolutely super, hot food, bread, sauce, bakery and fruits – nothing missed. You must be aware that it is a small hotel that cannot endlessly look a lot. The room becomes very festive on me. Concise: The hotel convinced me. Although it is not the Four Seasons, the price is fair for it. I felt very well there, almost like with family connection.
Te Stela Resort & Spa

This resort is one of the best resorts I've ever been to. Its a little far from the center but 100% worth it. The staff is super friendly and lovely, even though they have a lot of work, they still find the perfect timing for their clients. The resort itself is beautiful and luxurious with wonderful room balconies from the pool. the restaurant gives a variety of delicious dishes, traditional and modern plates.
VH Premier As Tirana Hotel & Meeting Center

A disappointment!!! We booked and payed for one night in AS Tirana, in advance. Once we got there, at the check in, the reception staff told us we had to pay an extra fee which was composed by the city fee and mandatory fee: 20€/person/night. Honestly, this price does not make any sense. This is almost the price for one night! No receipt with the described fees were provided to us! In any moment this was informed in the reservation and this never happened before in any hotel in Albania. After some research on this, we noticed this already happened to other people and the values vary a lot. Watch out for this! Regarding the room, the hotel apparently have 4 starts, but the floor was lifted up due to water and there was only one blanket. The breakfast was super poor, with very few options. The existing options runned out very fast and we had to wait a lot of time for the food to be replaced. In terms of location, its a 25min walk from the city center and its not easy to find the hotel. The internet was good. Overall, not pleased with this choice, and due to the extra fees we are relieved that we only stayed one night! Suggestion for the hotel: include this on the price!
