My family of four have stayed at Squatters Run 1 in the 2024 skiing season. The location is good and the property is in a great condition and functional. All good until you have a problem. When you have a problem you quickly discover that there is nobody onsite, not even in the town. The property is managed remotely and by the look of it those people are under-resourced. It is hard to get hold of any one over the phone, and you can tell that every time you speak to them they just want to finish the conversation quickly. As an example, when I ask if there is a hair dryer, they just respond in a few words that the property does not have one. When I said that WiFi is not working, the access point is not even showing up as a choice on the device, they have replied that they have checked the WiFi (I bet they didn't) before my arrival and it was working. They also said that there is a "storm" that's why I should not expect the internet to function properly. I have used the locker for my ski boots only to discover that the code lock combination is not working. So I cannot get my ski boots out - they are locked inside. Next day I meant to go skiing early in the morning. I called the office at about 5pm asking to do something as I heed my boots early the next day (the day tickets to the lifts alone are about $200 per person - I was going to loose) but they said that nothing they can do about it, they will send somebody next day in the morning to look at it. I know that it would be the cleaners who usually arrive at about lunch time, so it was no good for me... After spending an hour on the phone trying to convince them that "next day" is not going to be good enough I gave up trying to get any help from them and started to try to guess the code lock combination myself. After another few hours I managed to open the lock which appeared to be wrongly programmed: it had the first two digits from the apartment unlock code and the last two digits from the ski lock code. So clearly whoever programmed it (perhaps cleaners) simply made a mistake... That mistake almost cost me half of my expensive holiday (I came for three days) and management was not willing to help me. They were polite over the phone, but offered no help at all. I recommend staying away from this place given that it is priced the same as other places and those other places often have staff onsite and often they would have other facilities like restaurants. Candlelight Lodge, for example, where I stayed last year had an owner (or manager) onsite - he is a great guy, we got along well. Awesome place and they have a great german restaurant there as well. There are plenty of other places as well, just avoid anything managed by Henley Property unless you are prepared to deal with problems yourself. You will get little help if anything goes wrong or sympathy. Hope this helps, Alex
