Hotels near Gumuk Celeng, Temanggung Regency

We booked a tour of Indonesia through Turquoise Holidays who suggested, and arranged, a fantastic itinerary for us. The first stop on our tour was the MesaStila. We were picked up at Yogyakarta airport by our Destination Asia guides (arranged through Turquoise) and it was a couple of hours drive north to the hotel (the traffic was extremely busy!) The hotel is set in a fairly remote jungle area north of Magelang and has fantastic views of the nearby volcanoes and jungle. We were welcomed at the Club House with a cold drink and told about all the facilities on offer. There is a spa and gym (and even an outdoor “jungle gym”) a restaurant, sunset lounge bar, tennis courts. There are complimentary activities including yoga, a tour of their own coffee plantation, batik, Javanese dance and a guided village walk. The villas are set in large grounds on the side of the hill and are all very private with stunning views. Our agent at Turquoise had mentioned that we were celebrating our 30th anniversary and we were upgraded to an Arum villa. Staff had also prepared a lovely cake for us! The villa was very spacious and had a large “double bath” as well as double sinks and a shower. We had a covered terrace with a view of the volcanoes and an indoor dining area. Each day we had breakfast at their Java Red restaurant which included western as well as Indonesian specialities. They also served a “shot” of jamu (an Indonesian health drink) with a range to choose from – very interesting!! We went on day trips to the Borobudur and Prambanan temples (with Destination Asia) which are both withing striking distance. We also enjoyed a tour of the hotels coffee plantation, saw how they process and roast the coffee they harvest and had a taste in their coffee shop. We bought some beans to bring home. We even managed some pool time when the weather allowed. Dinner was a mix of western and Indonesian food with amazing cocktails (Java Spice was my favourite) and some decent wines. All the food was excellent. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. It was quite quiet at the hotel (we only saw two or three other couples) but this gave it a peaceful and relaxing vibe. A great place to stay and explore central Java.

This is not a brand new resort, but it continuous to expand. They now offer vila with private pool as well as new executive room. I stayed at the executive room with private porch situated in front of the main restaurant. The area of the resort itself is a downhill slope facing the Kulon Progo river. You can enjoy some activities next to the river such as badminton, chess and also rafting along the river. With a large area of the resort, in my opinion, they need to increase the number of staff especially in regard to cleaning and house keeping so that the cleanliness will be maintained better and any room services will be quicker. The bed is comfortable and towel is fresh. They offer a basket of local fruits which is also a nice touch. It is worth to note that since this location is in a downhill slope, the pathway is a little bit steep, however a shuttle bus is always ready to pick you up, and transports you up and down within resort.

Breakfast service should be adjusted to the number of guests. During the holiday season, you should increase the number of chefs and the number of meals.

View was supper awesome. The hotel is quite okey only cleaness need to improve. Anthing was okey

It's a new hotel. Not yet grand opening. 4th floor still not offered to guest on the time i visited. Gym equipments can't be used. Broken. The rooftop is a great place to hangout. Chill at night. Need to use jacket. I got the room at 3rd floor, 316. Don't really know the type of room But the windows dont have any views, facing other room in the corridor. Don't have air conditioner in my room. Feels a little hot because dont have any ventilation for the chilly weather Because when open the windows. People from corridor can get inside the room from window. Have a bad design on the bathroom. Toilet paper placed under the shower. So the tissue is wet from the shower. Dont know why they place it there. The design for the bathroom is really bad. Don't know for others room the same or not. Breakfast is good. They have indomie for bfast. Quite lots varieties. Area also can look over beautiful mountain.

On the side of the highway but not very much getting the road. Got a hook room, the view of the potato garden and a nice street. Big windows. Although there is no air conditioning/equipment, the room is quite comfortable and cool. Not hot and not too cold. The water in the bathroom is heavy, but the warm water is a little warm for a long time. Shampoo and shampoo are provided, 2 small bottled water. I didn't see there was a dispenser. Overall goodssss especially 3 rooms facing the garden hihi. The location is not too high to dieng. So it's close if you want to go to Wonosobo city. It's just that cr eat a little difficult. But want to come back to stay here, it feels like I won't be able to come again. Friendly staff. Affordable price. Cleanliness is maintained, wangiii towels and blankets. the bathroom is clean.there is a mushola and a room to eat

Location wise is very spot on, you can find most stuff easily and within walking distance, minimart, restaurants, market, souvenirs shops, coffee shops. The receptionist is very helpful and resourceful. Breakfast spread is good, they even have a stall with indomie ... lol, someone will prep it for you. You can have breakfast at the same time, you can enjoy the mountains and city view. For a small hotel and budget, it is definitely a very good deal. The do have hairdryer once you ask the receptionist, but it was broken tho, one small thing that they can improve easily, perhaps the hotels can have 3 or four extra.
