Alas, if I am unable to award a "sixth" star, then a "five" star it shall be! Which means there can truly be no other five stars, as the Cliveden House is nothing short of the most spectacular hotel on the planet. What was to merely have been a convenient overnight stay, albeit an opulent one, in order to get to Heathrow the next morning, turned out to be singularly the grandest hotel experience of a lifetime. Ours was to have been a subdued visit, hoping for no more than to absorb the elegant ambience and to allow our imaginings to transport us to a time of dignity and gentle grace long gone by. But the hotel staff would not permit us to relegate this experience to make believe. In no uncertain terms our splendid hosts at the Cliveden opened its doors with a warmth and social embrace that left us agog. We were not royalty, nor people of even conspicuous means, yet for perhaps the first time in our lives my wife and I were made to feel as such. This was a staff not only of gracious attentions, but also of good hearted humor. Nothing about our visit resonated falsely. My wife and I realized we would never have another experience like this again! Or at least until the next time we visit, which we can assure will be for more than just one night!

We booked for two nights at the amazing Clivden House. We took both our dogs with us and were treated extremely well and made very welcome the overall experience was amazing and the staff were exceptional. We ate at the Astor grill and both us and the dogs were made to feel very welcome.

Afternoon Tea is excellent. I took friends from Paris and one of them is in a wheelchair. The staff were beyond helpful and made the day very special. My friends were made to feel very important as so did everyone in the dining room. It’s a very special place.

This is our second stay at Cliveden. Such a beautiful house and gardens with very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Sebastian greeted us and took us to our lovely room where some treats awaited us. We had champagne, birthday and anniversary brownies and balloons gifted to us! The whole stay was wonderful but the meal in the evening in the Cliveden dining room was exceptional, I believe Liam was the chef. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend Cliveden.

Cliveden House is an amazing hotel and also has incredible grounds. The service is impeccable in all areas of the hotel. The food was excellent and service great. The bedrooms are excellent with beautiful views. See the photos. Book in advance!

Wonderful to experience a stay on this historic estate with so much history - much of it still in situ. Incredible house and spa with excellent and friendly service. Naturally this comes at a price and still more charges on the bill at check out but we did not regret it. Good breakfast spread although we did not feel that the quality and presentation of the hot dishes was up to the same high standards. Similarly our dinner in the restaurant - amazing setting, wines and service but we felt that the quality of the cooking food / whilst nothing bad - did not really justify the high prices charged on the A La carte menu hence this 4 not 5 star review. Otherwise a very special stay.

Every person we came across, from porters to reception, dining room to Astor Grill, cleaning staff to workers at the spa and the waiters and mixologists in the lounge was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We absolutely adored our stay with you. It really is a uniquely beautiful place and you all make it so. The food and drinks are delicious - my son said your breakfast smoked salmon is the best he’s ever had. And your gin martini was perfection (not easy to achieve!) The spa is wonderful - I went early and got to enjoy both pools, hot tub, sauna and steam room before 8am! Even in December being outdoors was delightful. The surrounding grounds and National Trust site were enjoyed by us and our dogs very much too. The dogs had a ball and were able to roam freely around most of the hotel (except for dining room and spa) - this is unique to Cliveden in my experience and made it so easy for us. 5/5, 10/10, 100% perfect score from me!

My husband and I went for one night to celebrate an anniversary, we were expecting a luxury stay as advertised on the social media platforms etc. Total cost of the night including a suite, meals and wine was just under 3k. What we were met with was an absolute circus of an afternoon tea set up. I am all up for hotels benefitting from external guests but by the end of the afternoon the entire restaurant and main lobby was crammed full of people having afternoon tea akin to a garden centre cafe with kids racing around everywhere screaming. The hotel guests were squeezed into a small bar with bad service, highlighting that the people actually spending money were indeed an after thought. The whole set up was blatant so hotel management clearly don't care about actual guests. I'd avoid staying, or maybe go for afternoon tea as you'll be treated better...
