I used a female-only dormitory this time, but it was clean and the futon was fluffy. The two directions are full windows and the view is outstanding. Since I went to the public bath, I didn't use the shower, but the kitchen was clean and very cute. There is an attached cafe as a common space, but it is comfortable and customers can bring it in. With a cup of tea brewed in the kitchen, I was able to relax while enjoying the scenery. I spent a night here with my gf and it was a marvelous experience. They offer a luxurious dinner and breakfast experience that uses locally caught seafood and ingredients that will made your stay very pleasant. Located in a quiet area away from the city's hustle and bustle but still within walking distance from the local station and seaport. The staff were very hospitable and very thoughtful. The room offered a traditional Japanese bathroom with a tub made from cypress that gives a pleasant aroma when bathing. It has a nice outdoor view that you can enjoy from comfort of your own bathtub. The rooms a nicely appointed and have a 5-star experience that you can only experience at this ryokan. I would definitely recommend staying here if you ever visit Onomichi!

This is a wonderful hotel, unfortunately we were put into the smallest room, one that was so small and filled with unusable furniture that there was no space for one guest let alone two. Getting around meant one person had to stay on the bed while the other crawled to the sink or shower room. The room was so tiny that staying in it was a constant source of tension, the kind of tension that can ruin a vacation. It was so small, it was almost impossible to step into the room and move aside so you could close the door behind you. There is a similar problem maneuvering into the shower. So if you want to stay in this hotel definitely ask not to be put in room 214. It's torture. Management would do well to remove the bed, the nightstand, the chair (which cannot be used because it has to be crammed so close to the small bed), and the small table next to the chair that also cannot be used. Replace the furniture with tatami, futons and a couple of pads to sit on. Now, moving on from the agitation of being sentenced to Room 214, this hotel has a lot going for it. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The hotel and the Onomichi train station share the same building -- a brand new building -- so as soon as you step off the train, you're at your hotel. Also, the building is completely soundproof. You will not hear or feel trains rumbling by or any noise from the bus and car traffic from in front of the hotel. The rooms have cathedral ceilings, not just high ceilings but vaulted ceilings, which I'm sure would have felt luxurious had we not been stuck in Room 214. The rooms also have high windows that give you a lot of ambient light and, I'm sure, great views from some of the rooms. Before being pointed to your room, you are brought to an amenity counter and allowed to take as many packets of luxury face washes, night creams and other cosmetics as you desire. A N'espresso machine and coffee capsules await you in your room. Once again, this is a wonderfully charming and modern hotel in a wonderfully charming and funky city. We plan to return to Onomichi when it is not so hot -- and stay in this hotel. But we'll ask for a larger room.

Conveniently located about halfway between Onomichi and Imabari along the Shimanami Kaido, WAKKA is much more than a halfway stop. Staying here is an experience you won’t forget for a while. Between us we had a cottage and a dome ‘tent’ both with views of the water & the Tatara bridge (across which we had cycled). We opted for the BBQ dinner on our deck & it was wonderful: sashimi appetiser, local seafood, vegetables & meat (amazing steak, boar sausages, chicken) as well as rice, dessert and mint tea! The hospitality here is so warm that we felt immediately welcomed. All the staff were lovely. Reika (from reception) suggested a trip to the local onsen (public bath) and provided a voucher as well as minibus shuttle (10 min way). This was a great experience and good way to relax after a day’s cycling. We enjoyed breakfast sitting on the cafe deck (great coffee) before we set off for another day of cycling. As well as cottages & dome tents, there are dormitory beds for a more economical stay. WAKKA also offers support to cyclists who aren’t staying at the hotel.

Arrived on the final flight of Hiroshima Airport and headed for a car rental. There are also seven eleven on the way. The road is a bit difficult to understand, but it arrives from the airport in １０ minutes. The parking lot is also convenient because it is in front of the hotel. I chose a king size bed, so the bed is large and the room is large and comfortable. There is also a feeling of cleanliness and comfort. It seems that the humidifier was prepared in the order of the early ones, but it was late, so there was only a small one. The public bath was an open-air bath and the bathtub was large and slow, so it was a rental. There was a rest place and there were comics and magazines. It seems to be fun even if you arrive early.
