My partner and I had been to Coventry the night before and stayed in a 4 star Ramada hotel which - surprisingly - is also owned by Wyndham. My partner had booked the room and mistakenly booked the Northbound hotel instead of the Southbound hotel. The person on the desk at the Southbound hotel was super helpful and could not have done enough for us. When we got to the Northbound hotel, the staff here were equally helpful. This was a last-minute booking so we didn't have to drive tired and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room!

The hotel is generally good and the staff are attentive, but we would suggest avoiding the restaurant.
The hotel doesn't warrant a 4* with areas showing wear and tear such as water-damaged wood, mouldy seal in the bathroom, broken window locks, etc.
Our room was not ready when we arrived, so we were given a drinks voucher. After being advised our room was ready, we arrived at the room to find the maid still cleaning the room. The room included basic tea and coffee facilities and toiletries.
The pool/spa is limited and has a cold pool, a steam room, a sauna, and a gym.
We had booked into the restaurant for an evening meal, but when we arrived there was a table complaining about the food. They had sent their food back to the kitchen twice, and the staff were suggesting they send it back again. They walked out of the restaurant. Based on this, we thought we would order something that was pretty safe, so we ordered a burger and a chicken. However, the meat tasted cheap and of poor quality. The restaurant is charging gastro prices, but the quality is nothing better than Wetherspoons or worse. Again, the puddings were basic, with a vegan coconut ice cream that had an odd texture to it and a sticky toffee pudding that was no better than a cheap microwave pud. In our opinion, the staff were inappropriately dressed, with one waitress having such a short skirt that every time she moved you got to see more than you wanted. The bar staff were assisting in the restaurant, and one barman was dressed in hip-style jeans, which kept falling down. Although all very attentive and polite, it seemed that the hotel as a whole had very limited staff, with everyone just mucking in.
The breakfast was not much better than our evening meal. We arrived at 9.30am to find the milk, pastries, hot water, etc. had run dry. There was a selection of hot food, but once again the meat tasted cheap. The main waitress was incredibly young and either didn't communicate or spoke so incredibly quietly that you could not hear what she said.
At check out, we were not asked how our stay had been, and we felt that everything was done to avoid such communication.

My Partner and I stopped here for the weekend. It took some time to decide on this hotel when booking due to all of the reviews etc on the different hotels in the vicinity. We were not disappointed from the first iteration at the front desk with a lovely lady who was super helpful. The room itself was clean and the bed very comfortable indeed. The food in the restaurant was in my personal opinion over priced, but there are plenty of places to eat out just a short walk away. The location is perfect to enjoy the river and the town all within an easy walking distance. The car park is not the biggest and works on a first come first served set up. However we managed to get a spot without any trouble, although I am sure this would not have been the case at peaks times of the year. All in all though a thoroughly pleasant experience!

We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we walked into reception. We bid for our stay as part of charity auction. The owners of Stratford park had donated a golf break of a night dinner, bed and breakfast and two rounds of golf in aid of Primrose Hospice. The junior suite is a lovely room, cozy and relaxing with luxury touches. Maz, the restaurant manager was attentive and looked after our every need. He gave great recommendations for food and wine and all was delicious. Golf - lovely course with wide fairways. Again friendly service from all. My challenge was to get over the water on 17th. I didn’t succeed so I will definitely go back.

Bed was very old and small and incredibly uncomfortable room 2007
Air conditioning (which didn’t appear to be air conditioning) was very loud and useless, room was so hot and stuffy- as was the hotel, especially this side of the building. Table fan provided which helped cool the room slightly.
TV kept turning its self on throughout the night.
Only English tea- no earl grey.
Shower was a dribble of water.
No room service after 9:30 which was very disappointing and no suggestions of where we could order food from elsewhere. Bar shut and no drinks for guests.
The room was a long way from reception and lift.
Good points- public areas are lovely, garden really pretty and plenty of space.
Room sizes are very big, shame about tiny TV and bed
With vast landscaped grounds, sweeping staircases and open log fires, The Welcombe Hotel, BW Premier Collection really does have the wow factor.
Weve plenty of quirky charm too, as this Grade II-listed neo-Jacobean building was designed as a calendar house with seven entrances, 12 fireplaces, 52 chimneys and 365 windows!

The service was great! There was an error with room allocation and as the booked room was not available, we got upgraded to a suite which was wonderful as we were celebrating a special milestone birthday. The dinner at the Trevellyn Restaurant was beyond expectation as we were vegetarian and the vegetarian meal prepared by the chef was awesome. The hotel decor itself looked a little tired although it added to the authentic look of the listed building. It was a hot weekend during our stay and although there was no air conditioning, a small fan was provided which made a little difference when sleeping at night. The gardens needed some upkeep and it would have been lovely if the fountains had been working. Overall we did enjoy our stay and look forward to coming back again after it has gone through some upgrading and refurbishing.

Excellent hotel in a super location, within easy reach of all the centre attractions especially the RSC. Interesting chice of rooms as the building has been stubstantially and very tastefully restored, we opetd for a contemporary room as they have lift service. Lovely staff, we had breakfast, excellent and swift service and great choices. Not the cheapest accommodation (there is car parking at additional cost) but if you ant to give yourself a treat, this is highly recommended. I will review the Woodman restaurant elsewhere.

We stayed there two nights and there were 4 of us thus two, Deluxe rooms were booked. Absolutely nothing, except the size, was anywhere near Deluxe. The seats of the bar chairs were stained badly. The fridge in the room was empty, not even a bottle of water. When I asked if they had forgotten to fill it, the receptionist, totally disinterested, answered that they didn’t do that anymore and if we wanted a bottle of water, we had to ask for it at the reception. It was free but only on request. The second day we returned from a long day out to find the room and bed not made up and the bathroom exactly as we had left it.. again at the reception, where I was told that that also was only on request. We have stayed in very many hotels this and also in past years but this was just totally at the bottom of the list even though it was one of the most expensive. €1,000 for two nights. There were no lights on the dark path around the hotel. All in all a discrace all round for any hotel, not to mind a, so called luxury hotel… terrible. Booking.com only mentions our favorable comments and that were ..Good beds and pillows and perfect location. Had I read any of the more honest reactions, I would never have chosen this hotel. Hospitality was totally lacking, just as the honesty on the Booking.com site. Sad after many years of loyal use and satisfaction.. very disappointed this year !

I've stayed at this hotel four times, and unfortunately, I've consistently been disappointed with the housekeeping service. Each time, the room was never topped up with essentials, and the bins were left full, even when we put the ”clean my room” tag out. This lack of attention from housekeeping has been frustrating. However, when I reported the issue to reception during my most recent stay, Rejo from the reception team immediately took action. He personally came to our room and cleaned it thoroughly, ensuring everything was in order and making our stay much more comfortable. His prompt response and dedication to resolving the issue were greatly appreciated.

GGuest UserWhat an amazing one night stay at this little gem just outside Stratford , greeted so warmly by the perfect host with tea coffee and outrageously good homemade fruitcake ! We were then treated to some much needed and tremendously helpful local knowledge all which was used and the place’s recommended lived up to Bills great reviews, the perfect veggie breakfast the following morning with another insightful chat with our host rounded off this wonderful mini break , can’t wait to visit again the perfect base when visiting this wonderful town
XXIAOCHENIt is very unexpected that the boss is a Chinese couple who have already settled in the UK. The room is clean, soundproof, the toiletries are good, and the hygiene is very good. At the same time, we have made a lot of good suggestions for our travel, and given improvements A lot of efficiency, guests can park, breakfast is a traditional English breakfast, very happy staying 😃
GGuest UserWe spent one night here. The Hotel is in a small village just outside Stratford. There is not much outside space other than parking. A warm welcome at Reception and felt totally safe with the COVID arrangements. The reception area was very clean as was our room (No.1 on the. ground floor). Indeed you would have thought it was a brand new room. The facilities in the room were excellent. Large TV with Movie channels. The walk-in shower was very clean. We ate in the Saddles Bar and the food was excellent. The breakfast service was great and the food was top quality. I have tried to find something to find fault with but I can't. Even the price was very reasonable.
GGuest UserWe stayed here 3 weeks ago and wanted to bring friends from Scotland to visit Stratford this last weekend, but unfortunately the Arden was fully booked. We came for dinner, as we knew how good it had been when we were guests. All I can say is fabulous! The restaurant & bar staff were all so pleasant & attentive. Alex was one of our waiters and has to be one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met - he read that our group had a sense of humour & made us all giggle. He’s a massive credit. The food was just ace, and I definitely recommend the scallops to start, and the Ribeye. We’ll definitely be back, thanks all 🙂
GGuest UserWe had a lovely stay here, the facilities are really good. We enjoyed the pool and gym areas, there’s outdoor games to play and the grounds are beautiful. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of the staff are very young and whilst friendly the method of service is very reactive (we noticed this in a few other reviews). Lots of glasses and plates being left around, dirty tables not being cleaned whilst groups of staff are stood in the corner chatting. I wouldn’t mind this as much if it wasn’t a 4/5 star hotel. Often staff would forget what you’d ask for and you’d be waiting ten minutes for a spoon or milk with your tea. Whilst the food is lovely it is fairly overpriced - this didn’t bother us as much as we had dinner credit included but I wouldn’t have eaten there without credit. Having said that, we had a great meal in the restaurant and the staff provided a pudding as a surprise for my birthday which was a lovely treat! Overall, we would return to stay again - but don’t expect 5* service.
GGuest UserThis place was not good at all when we arrived we were met by the manager who was very abrubt bordering on rude - the room seemed ok but the shower tray was very slippery and the door to the shower would not close - no sanitary bin in the bathroom - the mattress was the most uncomfortable I have ever tried - the cleanliness left a lot to be desired especially the stairs which were very dirty with extremely worn carpets with a lot of large holes,If you have mobility issues the stairs are very steep. We booked 2 double rooms they had no single rooms my son was in 1 double room on his own but we were charged double room rate which INCLUDED the price of 2 breakfasts - when I asked for the second breakfast which we had paid for to be put in a take away bag it was refused . We stayed for an evening meal which was ok as long as you don't mind your food being overcooked and you like rock hard onion bajies. It was a totally abysmal experience - we had just been to a funeral and the way we were treated really did not help. Lastly if you want a quiet evening meal please dont go when the Cheltenhan races are on - The irish people that came for a meal were sooooo loud.
GGuest UserThis hotel is well suited to the old phrase ‘fur coat, no knickers’. The main reception rooms are beautiful, but the actual accommodation leaves a lot to be desired. £229 felt like a huge sum of money for a random night in October, in a tatty room, with stains on the walls, chipped paint work that in places was more chip than paint, blackened grout in the bathroom, 1950s metal & single glazed prefab style windows and a door which looked as if it had been bust open at some point (nothing like making your guests feel safe). Also deciding to give the spa a swerve, on the basis that a quick look didn’t inspire much confidence, we were truly disappointed with this hotel & would not recommend it to anyone based on our experience. The stay was supposed to be a treat, but the decor is in dire need of a serious face lift. Interestingly, the person who checked us out did not ask if everything was satisfactory, or if we had enjoyed our stay. It was as if she knew it was a total rip off. For somewhere which oozes polished antique charm in its public rooms, Alveston Manor seemed somewhat hypocritical and grossly over-priced behind the scenes.
GGuest UserThe food is primarily Mexican but we decided to go for the Specials. I'm sure the Mexican meals would have been great because the 'traditional' meal we chose was amazing! Highly recommend the cottage pie (the twist of lemon lifted the whole dish) & the chef came out to check we were enjoying the meal. The room we are staying is clean, crisp and exactly what we needed. We spend many weekends travelling around the UK &, we would happily return here. (My food photo does not do it justice as we'd enjoyed most of it before I took the photo).
