Location wise is not too bad. It’s about a 10min walk from the train station. And right next to the Shimoda tourist information centre. It’s a short walk to the harbour front - being near the ocean is nice. There’s a 7-11 about a 7mjn walk away. And the park next to the ocean is very near too and very nice to walk.
The ryokan doesn’t have a lift though, so take note if you’re bringing heavy luggage.

A renovated inn? The stylish Japanese-modern rooms are impressive.
Because they're new, they also have a sense of cleanliness.
The location is just under 10 minutes' walk from Izukyu-Shimoda Station, or less than 5 minutes by bus, making it easy to stroll around town and sightsee.
There's a roadside station right next door, and the coast is close by.
As it's a bed-and-breakfast only, the service is minimal, but there was nothing bad to say about the staff.
The baths are small, but there are two, and they can be locked from the inside, so they can be used privately, which is nice.
Considering the cost of the accommodation, I think it's a more than adequate facility.

It's a very Japanese-style hotel. You have to change your shoes when entering and make your own bed. The room is ridiculously big for a Japanese hotel and it's very comfortable! The hotel also has a hot spring, which is very comfortable to relax after a day of fun! The only drawback is that the hotel is a little out of the way, there aren't many things to do nearby, and the roads are all mountainous. The two of us were exhausted after riding for a day!
