My wife and I decided to stay and dine for our anniversary. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. Despite being late for check in. Francesca messaged me personally ensuring it wouldn't be a problem. We arrived, finally. The room was stunning with a cosy touch and a personalised note from the landlords. The pub itself is a beautiful traditional country pub. The staff are extremely helpful and attentive with no request to small or large. The food was amazing. The location is surrounded with countryside and beautiful walks. 10/10. Thank you so much for making our anniversary such a lovely evening.

This review refers to the accommodation only. Accommodation is VERY VERY, overpriced at £130 per night (With NO Breakfast included in price), for a clean, but VERY average room. My 3 day stay was booked for me by a friend in advance, and for the duration of my stay, my room was not cleaned, towels were not changed, not serviced in any way. When I mentioned this upon leaving I was told “You should have told the manager”. Well I’m sorry, but don’t put the onus on your guests, these are things which should be second nature to anyone in the hospitality business. The pub side of the inn seemed fine, and was quite busy but I didn’t eat there so cannot comment on the food. As stated at the start, this is a review of the accommodation only, but I have also included the reaction of the owner to my complaint, about pricing and servicing. The owner was so defensive about the pricing system saying it was the “norm” for the area, and although this may be so for hotels, what we have here is an unstarred country pub, and proceeded to tell me why I was wrong and they were right, but these comments sounded like they were out of the mouth of someone who has never stayed in accommodation which is worth £130. Per night My experience has prompted me to advise any one thinking of staying in the St Crispin Inn, is to think again. There are many other country inns in the area, and think there must be better places at better prices with owners who care more.

We came here for dinner on Saturday 16th March 2024,we walked here fom our accommodation at the Chilton Villa guest house. The macaroni was delicious, the chillie fries were too salty! We disnt choose any of the main course as they were very expensive and there was nothing on the menu that we liked.

A disappointing mothers day. It felt as if they had overbooked, none of the food was coming out on time, it took over an hour and a half for it to arrive. In that time, not one person came over to inform us of the wait time nor to see if we wanted any more drinks. We were previously informed they needed the table back by a certain time, giving us an hour and a half. Our food arrived almost at the time we were supposed to leave. The waitresses apologized greatly for the wait when our food arrived, and said our first round of drinks was free. (Two non-alcoholic beers) The food came out, we had 3 vegetarian roasts as well as a beef roast. The vegetarian meals were fine, the beef however, was stringy, undercooked and looked like I had received all the discarded parts of it. After 2 bites, I couldn't eat the meat. I started on the vegetables and the cauliflower cheese (separate to the meals, to share between a family of four, it contained around 8 pieces of cauliflower and the vegetables had 4 pieces of broccoli, a load of carrots and a handful of peas, probably enough for 2 people together), which tasted fine, until I came to the potatoes, hard and undercooked again. At this point I asked the waitress to take my plate away and remove it from the bill. Later on, one of the waitresses came up to me quite abruptly and asked "What was wrong with the food, so I can tell Frankie?" - So I informed her. It didn't feel sincere at all. Previously I had a fantastic experience here, although this time felt like a disaster.

Probably one of best roast dinners we've had out for long time. The beef was lovely and tender and lots of it, good sized roast potatoes and a lovely selection of vegetables. Makes such a change to go out and have good quality food, and not leave disappointed.

Great location in a pretty village and handy for Sandwich and Deal. Good for a walk into Sandwich (about 20-30 mins) or there is a longer walk you can take into Deal, which is all lanes, paths, and the option of a walk along the coast if you choose. Staff were very helpful (mention for Will) and friendly, and the food was excellent. In fact, we were going to only eat in the restaurant one night but ended up eating in both nights. This was in some part to do with what we chose to do in the day - walking, drinking and eating is hard work to do all day and night!!

We visited this pub twice when holidaying nearby. A Sunday afternoon drink in the garden and a celebratory dinner one evening. The garden was big and there is a serving hatch. Staff were very friendly. When we went for dinner, the inside of the pub was very cosy. The menu could maybe offer more veggie options. Food was nice. My husband had nachos, Cajun fries and onion rings which was too much as the portions were big. Prosecco and wine were reasonably priced. The staff who served us were very friendly and lovely. Definitely recommend.

Terrible service had to wait at least an hour for starters, tables arrived after us got served first. Lack of main ingredient of dish (supposed to be a portion of green beans) complaint was met with thats how it comes a further complaint resulted in a flippant apology. Was offered a dessert or coffee for the inconvenience. Wont be returning or recommending.
