Medina Hotel Samarkand Reviews

After a few rough nights at a Soviet hotel, words can’t describe how happy I was to see this hotel. The male receptionist was very welcoming when I arrived as he let me check in a bit earlier after a train ride. The breakfast fulfilled my needs as they have fresh fruits, vegetables, yoghurt, eggs, coffee… no complaint. The guy working at the breakfast area was also very helpful. After I finished gym, I went up there. He immediately asked me if I needed water. It shows that he’s attentive. I felt happy staying there. The reason I booked it was the gym. As an active person, I need to work out on my travels. The gym is not fully equipped but it provides with the basics such as a treadmill, a bike and weights. Location wise, it’s not in the center of the tourist spot but it’s walking distance. It took me 15 min to get to Registan. Don’t worry though as Samarkand is pedestrian friendly.

Was a nice experience staying at the Medina hotel. It was conveniently located a few km from many famous sites and good restaurants, nice pool, and well maintained. Rooms were simple, but clean.

I have been to dozens of countries, and this is the first time I have encountered such a rubbish hotel. Not only was the room very small, but you could smell a stench as soon as you entered it. The toilet was even more disgusting. When I first checked in, I wanted to wash my hands in the toilet but it was so smelly that I almost vomited. The hotel restaurant staff have a very poor attitude and basically no sense of proactive service. Their English proficiency is almost zero and they are unwilling to find ways to communicate with guests. I ordered a pilaf and was served a small plate of white rice as shown in the picture. Know what you want to do. There were flies flying around in the restaurant, and I was very hungry the night I checked in. At night, dogs were all barking around the hotel, and they couldn't stop, which seriously affected their rest. You start knocking on the door from room to room at around six o'clock in the morning. Are you worried that the guests are resting too well? That is to say, the reception at the front desk is barely satisfactory, both in terms of English level and service attitude.

A good choice, but the hotel didn't remind me to check in 2 hours early and I had to pay $40! **** didn't say a word, "Wait a minute, now it's double the price." Just take the money and stop talking. Speechless 😓, the breakfast is really great, I have to say more about the good stuff.

Terrible hotel with good location. There is no soundproofing, people are making noise by the pool all night. They asked for a lunch box instead of breakfast, but nothing was prepared. The administrators are not helpful, they are stupid.

Very bad. The reviews said it was good. In fact, the room didn't seem to be cleaned very much. There were still a few hairs on the pillow. When we got in, the bedding was still messy! ! ! Breakfast at other hotels is at 7 o'clock, but at this hotel it is from 8 to 10 o'clock. It's too late to have breakfast even if you catch the train!

Be careful when booking this hotel! First of all, it's not worth the money (I booked it for more than 600 a day). Secondly, the big bed in this hotel is made up of two single beds with a gap in the middle. The most important thing is to remind friends who booked this hotel that when checking in, they must confirm the payment of the room fee with the front desk. I booked this hotel through Ctrip. The room fee has been paid through Ctrip. After the order is displayed at the hotel, a tax (more than 100 yuan) needs to be paid. Checking in went smoothly. When checking out, there was a young lady at the front desk. Due to poor language communication (my English is not very good and her English is not very good), I didn’t know what she was talking about. Later, she asked me to pay. I thought it was paying tax, but then I received the payment message and found out it was US$165. I was confused at the time, and after asking, I found out it was room fee. I told her that my room fee had already been paid when making the reservation. Then she checked the order, confirmed that I had paid and then said she would give me a refund. However, after one operation, not only was there no refund, but my mobile phone was charged again. A purchase notification of US$165 has arrived! Confused, completely confused. A total of two purchases of US$165! Sigh... I was in a hurry to catch the train, so I contacted Ctrip customer service to explain the situation and then left. The customer service said they would help me contact the hotel to solve the problem. Later, I learned through Ctrip customer service that Ctrip was not directly linked to this hotel, but was online through a third-party booking platform. Therefore, contacting this hotel had to go through a third-party platform, which was a very troublesome process. Sigh... It has been more than a month since the incident happened. Ctrip has been communicating with the hotel, but the problem is still unresolved. The hotel always says that it is checking for various reasons, and my two payments of US$165 have still not been refunded. The front desk staff at this hotel are so amateurish. Be careful when booking this hotel!

Чистый отель, хороший персонал. Вкусные завтраки, но очень много мучного, хотелось бы больше белкового, но выбрать есть из чего. Ванная протекала после душа весь пол в воде, из-за этого в ванной стоял неприятный запах сырой воды. Номера чистые, хорошее, мягкое постельное белье

Отель отличный, в доступности рядом все достопримеательности, шикарный завтрак !!! Хозяин супер 🙌

Centrally located hotel, clean comfortable room, well appointed bathroom. The staff appears a little raw, but receptionist could speak reasonably good English and so did the restaurant staff. Avoid the attached restaurant. Breakfast buffet on the terrace was vast

The hotel is centrally located in Samarkand, walking distance from all sights. The staff was very welcoming and kind. They helped us with everything, directions, calling taxi, printing the boarding pass. Their kind, professional attitude was much appreciated. The hotel itself is modern, has a fancy design, well-equiped and clean. The rooms are large and comfortable, well heated. The breakfast offers high variety, sweet dishes like pancakes, cakes, salty dishes, including caviar and local specialities, both warm and cold. It was a nice stay, the hotel is clearly recommended. Thank you for contributing to our nice stay in Samarkand!

The beds were rock hard and the Wifi was unusable at times. The walls were paper thin so if you're unfortunate to be next someone watching TV or with kids, you'll be able to hear everything. Gym was listed as an amenity however it had only a small treadmill and a small bike that if you're any taller than 5' 6" it would be unusable. The room is spacious enough to do stretches. Location was great for accessing most of Samarkand by foot and the breakfast buffet was incredible. Lots of variety. Two stand out staff members were Jimal and Rustam in maintaining the spread and explaining what each food was.

The toilet has a glass door which you can see through - very poor. And the breakfast is not good at all.
