We spent 4 nights at Carvynick, pitched up in the Top camping field. First impressions were good, lots of space, well kept grass and beautiful views. Reception left us a welcome pack and emailed with instructions for pitching up which was helpful. However, the toilet and shower blocks were less appealing. There was only 4 separate rooms fitted with toilet and shower facilities which seemed inadequate considering the amount of people using them, there was usually a waiting period. Also due to the weather, the floors of the facilities were covered in mud and grass which made the showering process difficult with no seating available. This could be easily fixed with a squeegee for campers to clean the floor after themselves and a simple bench to sit on and keep wash bags/clothes off the floor. Another negative was the lack of washing up stations, only two which again were in use a lot of the time. The fridge storage area was a plus, we used this to store perishables and freeze our ice blocks. There was plenty of room for campers that were using the fridges. We went to the on-site pub which was shut permanently . The smoke shack was being used instead, serving bbq food and drinks but was closed quite early for a Sunday evening. On the last day we used the laundrette facilities, the room itself looked a bit tired and outdated but the one tumble dryer that was in use did the job adequately. We had a bizarre problem with an excessive amount of spiders invading our tent lounge area (we know to expect some insect activity as seasoned campers 😂) but it seemed to be everyday 50+ spiders all over the inside of the tent, the table and chairs and on the car. Maybe we picked the wrong part of the field to pitch up at lol. All in all the location of the campsite was ideal, but the facilities didn't match the price paid considering other competitors in the area.
