Well, we were there for 3 nights and after the first night the room wasn’t serviced, but we arrived back too late to do anything about it. Next morning we found the person and pointed at the room. Even so, not all the towels were changed and the shampoo/shower gel were not replenished. We carry our own, but sloppy! Breakfast – No fruit of any kind. Boxes of lowest common denominator cereal, but you’ll have to go and hunt down the milk. No butter unless you ask and it then comes next to frozen. Watery, cheap, out of a box orange juice and a glass full of ice, so you actually don’t get too much. Do they have the worst coffee on the planet? That may be a bit of a stretch, but they are in contention. Too much detail already, I know, but in general, just not very good. Avocado, too hard to eat and left on plate, but nobody asked why. As a plus though, the sausages were actually OK. Dinner – We ate there twice. Our program gave us no option. Sausage and mash, you can’t really screw up. (Same sausages as at breakfast!) But baked cod you can and they did. Left most of it, but again nobody even asked. There must be somewhere else in Royston.

Had a really lovely one night stay, room and facilities all good. The food was exceptional and all the staff were fantastic, especially Katrina who went out of her way to assist us with a voucher booking confusion. Look forward to visiting again and highly recommend.

I popped in with a friend to have a cocktail, the staff were friendly and venue nice but the cocktails were a complete disaster! We had a strawberry Martini and a margarita in the V shaped cocktail glasses! They were not full to the brim and for the money a very big letdown. Unless there are improvements we will not go there for cocktails again. I can however recommend The Flintshack their cocktails are amazing

The potential for this hotel to be great is definitely there. Nice building, good location, large bar and restaurant area. However that is where my compliments stop…room was far too hot and stuffy, mattress was soft, if you’re in a room above the restaurant toilets you’ll be forever hearing the hand dryer going. Having read multiple reviews about the slow service, we decided not to eat here for dinner (we highly recommend the Thai Rack Glass House down the road) however breakfast was included in our stay so we ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast. Despite there being three waitresses serving four tables, the service was incredibly slow. This was topped off by a waitress giving the middle finger to a family behind their backs as they left as they rightly so didn’t want to wait any longer. We found this highly unprofessional. When our breakfast arrived, it wasn’t as ordered, the quality of the food was average and although a continental breakfast buffet was included in our hotel stay, there was no such thing.

Always made to feel welcome. Even when busy or lacking in staff due to illness or leave. Good selection of beers and wines. Never had a bad meal there. Is always best to book during holiday periods, but have also just walked in too and managed to get a table. Really enjoyed the live music night before Christmas. Had a decent pint of Guinness too....which isn't always the case at some places. Pods in the garden are great too.

Very nicely appointed rooms, very comfortable beds and everybody very friendly and welcoming. Great selection of drinks in the bar too! This has been very well developed and smacks of quality from wealking through the door.

Popped in this evening for a drink just after 9pm,sat in the seating /dining area on the rt,thought had got wrong venue to start with, and we were at Crufts! Never seen so many dogs, fine in foyer area but not in area where people eating! I have dogs myself.Rather vocal husky sitting at next table, obviously bored,so gets noisy and restless. All the tables around us where people had been eating, plates and glasses not cleared, just reeked of fish. Came out with ex pub landlady of 40yrs who was quite disgusted! Nobody seemed to care! Gentleman tucked away with his pc in foyer I think may have been manager cleared 1 table during our time there.Whole place looking shabby, needs a good clean! After a glass of wine each £18,we left! Used to be such a lovely place.
