Hotels near La Mia Libreria, Rome

Only two stars but spotlessly clean. Lovely room and super shower room. Bed was firm but comfortable. Fridge in the room. Coffee machine and snack machine near reception. No lift. Room only. Area is a bit run down. Lovely park 100 metres away with pavement cafe/bar doing basic snacks. Would go there again

Our stay at the Hotel Archimediocre was strange to say the least. The hallways and common areas were fairly nice, and the breakfast was okay. However the rooms were a rather different story. Our room was shared between three, and two of the beds were pushed up against each other so we had to essentially share a bed. The sheets and towels were unclean and there was hair all over them, suggesting they hadn’t been cleaned properly. My sheets also had holes in them. The shower was inconvenient, as there was no shower curtain and no plug, so we had to take showers sitting down in the bath (which was stained). The privacy was limited. Our window looked out onto a utility area which was very dirty. The utility area also seemed to be used as a smoking spot for the staff. However, since the window was not airtight, the smell of cigarettes filled our room frequently. What’s more, our blinds didn’t close all the way and we saw the staff looking into our room through the window several times. Our friend’s door handle fell off the door too, which made opening and closing the room difficult. The air conditioning was functional, however it made our room smell disgusting. Since our trip was in the spring this was not too much of an issue, but had we travelled a few months earlier this would have been another story. The staff were not unkind but neither were they overly warm. However, the location of the hotel was good, and our stay overall was not too bad.

Location is amazing, walking distance to Termini train Station. Metro and Busstop 200m. Very clean, good breakfast although Coffee was cold one morning. Has A/C and a small fridge, didnt use it though. Stated in a Single room w a Single bed, very comfy. Shower is very small so a 'bigger' person might have problems to get in the shower. WLAN works perfectly. Stuff is nice. Restaurants are close. Stated 3 nights it was perfect for a City Trip.

I'm sure that each of us has his own scale of factors to evaluate whether a place is beautiful or ugly but that the added value is the people. In this clean, nice and very comfortable hotel, near the Roma Termini station, it is precisely the people who make a small hotel a point of reference for our trips to Rome. Paola from the reception was, and is, the person who followed us during the booking process and who went out of her way to help us project our photographs on a wall, in a small room set up just for us, a small group of photographers arrived in town for a two day photography course. The best thing about Giglio is it’s location. You can never ask for a better location than this. Exactly three minutes walk from Termini Station, it is surrounded by nice out sitting restaurants, a small super store that also have reasonably priced Italian wine and some of the tourist attractions at walkable distance. Collosium is approximately 1.5 kms from here. Though there are buses (number H) from Termini but I will advise to take a cab because the tourists pickpocketing is so rampant that it is really a menace (we saw an American man and his wife literally crying as they were robbed of their wallet which had his all credit cards). However, let’s come back to the hotel Giglio. If you fancy a hotel with a large balcony or big windows then you must look some other property. But if you are a genuine tourist who wants value for money, centrally located just go for this place. Our room was on fifth floor and our A/C was set at 26 degrees Celsius. There was no remote in the room. I spoke to reception and Mr Rauf came rushing upstairs, brought a remote and set the temperature as we wanted. Though we were only two people we were given a room fit for four people. The bathroom was really spacious. They don’t provide a lot of toiletries but good enough to shower. I have had breakfast at various expensive hotels in Rome, Florance and Siena but the breakfast provided at Giglio was much better than most. I must also add that the very kind girl at the breakfast service named Safia was just an Angel for us. She is soft spoken, very oriented towards customers and one who looks for solutions. We wanted vegetarian breakfast and she got us cheese tomato sandwiches because everything else had meat. Overall this is a great hotel because it gives you best value for money, it’s location and its kind staff.

Cosy room. Close to transport, amenities deceiving as linked with other hotels, spa area not in this hotel but another up the road. Upstairs balcony/ bar not in service anymore but ok for a quiet drink you can take up as self service. Coffee not great, suggest to go elsewhere. Amazing seafood restaurant nearby would highly recommended, SaTanca Crostaceri.

The room itself it's very nice, very spacious and the bed was comfortable. The location was great too, a very decent distance to all the attractions around by walk e.g Trevi Fountain.. alternatively bus stop is very near. Staffs were not that helpful as we have requested slippers few times and none was sent throughout a two day stay. One male staff at the front desk doesn't look at you when you're talking to them, which is very rude in my opinion.

We stayed here over the May 1st long weekend, we had coupons for three nights which still included an increase for this period, and obviously we weren't expecting luxury, but I was disappointed by some aspects and I'm writing this review in a somewhat conflicted way . On the plus points, the location is certainly excellent, excellent for transport, you can easily reach the metro and buses, as well as the station, and once you have learned the streets even the center or the main monuments are not that far away on foot (from 10 minutes to 20). At the hotel they were also kind enough to keep our luggage for us even after check out, because we had the train in the late afternoon, so as not to wander around all day with our backpack on our shoulders. The room was ok, clean and just the right size, only the bathroom was a little small and without a bidet, but for a few days you could be satisfied. The disappointment concerns the services. At the reception we waited outside the door for 20 minutes because the doorbell didn't work and I had to call on the phone several times. The manager was never seen except at check out and we almost never found anyone in the hotel... before 9am and from 3pm there isn't a living soul... we didn't receive any information or suggestions regarding travel or places to visit or where to eat, or about events... no practical indications... in reality we felt quite abandoned to ourselves... The only suggestion is a bar to have breakfast on the last day and one of the most expensive in the city.... The linen in the room was changed only on request.... No agreements with bars and restaurants, and being a bed & breakfast it could be useful... moreover, Rome is undoubtedly a large city and you cannot expect to reach everything in a few minutes on foot, but once you learn shortcuts and the right streets you can also get around quite quickly, perhaps it would be enough to take a road on the right rather than the left... it's a shame that we only understood this on the last day... if we had had more directions perhaps we would have avoided so many unnecessary km... and we would have seen more things... Having said that, it remains a good solution for the location but customer care definitely needs to be reviewed which is why I think the prices are a little over the top...

With the expectation that this is a guest house (not a hotel), we were duly impressed with the amenities and cleanliness of this place. It is ideally located at Piazza Barberini (next to Metro stop, by the Triton fountain, and across the street from pick up of Rome hop-on/ hop-off bus), with a cafe across the street and several restaurants, pharmacy, bank nearby. It is about a 10-15 leisurely walk to Trevi Fountain, so location is attractive for tourists like us. We travelled as a family (2 adults, 1 child) and we were assigned a triple room overlooking the courtyard (very quiet at night, even for my husband who is a light sleeper). The central air conditioning was amazing, especially in the summer heat. The housekeeping is exceptionally prompt ( we would return after lunch for a siesta and the beds are made, bathroom cleaned, fresh towels available). While they don’t have breakfast onsite at this time, we are able to buy breakfast vouchers for 3 euros for the cafe across the street (this is the discounted rate since the same breakfast is €4.50 without a voucher). This was a quick breakfast type: cappuccino and a cornetto (croissant with Nutella or jam). If you want an American breakfast, that is also available at said cafe. Prior to check-out, the front desk arranged for our airport transfer (€65 van pick up). Alternatively, folks can walk to the taxi stand across the street (€50 standard tariff for airport drop off by taxis) but we had someone with mobility issues so pickup in front of the guest house was ideal. Other amenities included basic soap and body wash, in-room safe, water bottles when we first arrived and small refrigerator inside our room. There is also a vending machine near the front desk for additional water/juice and coffee vending machine (you will need coins- it was maybe 85 cents for a small coffee). There is a nearby PAM grocery we frequented for bottled water and other supplies. Overall, a memorable stay and we hope to back again soon.

The hotel is located outside of the city centre of Rome. Although it is situated near a station on Line C of metro, it is not convenient to carry your baggage to the hotel. We took uber when we check out. However, I would recommend this hotel to budget travellers as everything is decent except the location.
