Very close to city center with access to food late at night. 15 minute walk to Train station. The room is tidy and bathroom is neat. However there is no amenities. I paid another 10 pounds to check in early at 12. The lift was not working at the time.

The good part: Staff are very friendly although check-in seems to take a little longer than Premier Inn, the reception area and seating to relax looks fantastic and the pizzas that the staff make 24/7 are absolutely delicious. The drink & pizza prices are reasonable. Location wise is spot on, just a two minute walk from the train station and central to everything. They provide more variety of tea & coffee in rooms, such as fruit & herbal teas, and decaff coffee, this totally beats any other budget hotel. Bad points: This is a cashless hotel & this is something i'm firmly against for a variety of reasons they lost £200 in sales due to this from myself & friends. The pillows are rock hard and kept waking up with a sore neck, the beds are also uncomfortable and feels like your sleeping on the floor. The noise from housekeeping is absolutely atrocious all you hear from several floors above and below, are the staff dragging large heavy trollies around and this goes on from 11am to 4pm if you need to sleep during the day forget it. The toilets smell of sewage & urine so sometimes you return back to your room and it stinks. There is also construction work ongoing Monday-Friday until Nov 2022 yet the prices are still very high. The cooling systems seem to work fine for an hour or so but then quickly the room becomes stuffy and warm, due to the location having the window open is very noisy especially at weekends.

Perfect for me as it’s right across from the office but probably not so great if you wanted to be in the city centre although it’s only an £8 taxi ride or £2 bus ride. Opposite a Beefeater which was handy but I would prefer an on-site bar and restaurant. Felt a bit uncomfortable on check-in to be asked if I was a smoker (I’m not) and if anyone would be joining me later 😳. Didn’t like the bed being made up with sheets, blanket and counter pane as it’s quite uncomfortable particularly on one of the hottest days of the year although the mobile air conditioning unit helped (first time I’ve had sheets and blankets for over 30 years since the day I got married despite extensive business (weekly) and leisure travel (4-6 times a year)). Hotel was very clean and the bathroom was well equipped. A bottle of water would have been a welcome addition to the room particularly in such hot weather. Not sure who to recommend the hotel to as it’s neither a corporate hotel with all the amenities or a home from home. Breakfast was on offer for an additional £15 and I decided to wait until I checked in to see. As I wanted to be in the office for 8am and there was no menu available, times of service or visibility of a dining room, other facilities or even other guests, I decided it may be too intimate and opted for a cold sandwich I had stored in the office fridge ‘just in case’. Was similarly priced to the executive room I had in the Novotel last week which had a full buffet breakfast included.
Perfectly suited to family or business stays, Novotel Reading Centre sits in the heart of the town. Many of Readings best restaurants, bars, and shops are just a stone throw from the hotel. There is no shortage of things to do in the area, with easy access to Windsor and Oxford, and family attractions like Legoland nearby. From our central location you can enjoy proximity to local transport links including Reading train station, a two-minute walk away. Thames Valley Park is also just a shuttle bus away.

Awful location right in centre of Reading where there is absolutely NO PARKING anywhere near the hotel. You cannot even stop just outside to set passengers down or drop luggage as it is entirely surrounded by double RED lines - no stopping at any time. You have to park in a long stay car park at the Railway Station, which is a good 7 or 8 minutes walk away, and carry your luggage to the hotel yourself. Lad who checked us in was so helpful. He not only found me some additional pillows and brought them to the room very quickly, but he also booked a cab for us to our restaurant at the Oracle. On the other hand, the girl on duty this morning obviously could not give a toss when I reported that our air conditioning did not work and our toilet did not flush. As it was the hottest day on record yesterday, we had to try to sleep with a tiny window open to get any air, which of course (in a city centre) was noisy. As for the toilet, the very least I demand of any hotel room is that I get a functioning toilet. I had to take the plastic inner from the waste bin in the bathroom and fill it with water in the sink and then tip it into the toilet to get rid of our waste. Not pleasant. And this was in the £340 a night Rocket suite! Girl on duty's response - ”I will tell maintenance”. Not even a ”sorry to hear that” let alone any offer of compensation by reducing the bill. Awful. Will never stay here again.

Isabel was incredibly helpful and attentive. It’s the first time I have ever know a conference be truly inclusive for dietary requirements, so thank you. The room was set up exactly as we requested, yea and coffee was readily available as requested and the goodies were delivered right on time! The high end organisation made our away day the best day. Thank you Isabel.

Wasn't impressed to receive text whilst abroad to say if we checked in late our room could be let. We were flying back and couldn't guarantee getting there at 3 pm. Had to get family member to call to explain. There are 2 Travelodges, one each side of the motorway. We booked the westbound one. Both have the same postcode. Our satnav only recognised Eastbound side. Result was they couldn't find our reservation. Apparently this happens a lot. Staff redirected us so only a few minutes and a few miles delay. Our arrival delayed by difficulty at Heathrow,ie Terminal change and over an hour and a half hours delay before passengers could access luggage reclaim. Staff shortages. Arrived at nearly midnight. Only Costa open at services. However, staff at hotel helpful. Situation good and quiet despite proximity to M4. We were very pleasantly surprised. Room clean and plenty of space, bed comfortable, coffee-making facility welcome. Bathroom fine and water hot. Slept really
well and plenty of choice for breakfast with services placed only a few yards away but not causing any noise problem at the hotel. Enjoyable stay. Pity about postcode confusion
Maybe explanation to take westbound services turnoff given on website when booking would avoid confusion and save people being taken to the eastbound site. We were worried when satnav told us to pass westbound services but assumed hotel was approached by another turnoff shortly after. It would have made our arrival far less fraught to have been aware of the fact there were Travelodges BOTH sides of motorway. The hotel itself was good and gave us a comfortable night.

We booked a single night's stay at this hotel to visit family in Maidenhead. The hotel was clean, comfortable and in a wonderful setting on the river. We were all made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, Ashley on reception was friendly and made us feel at home. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant but this was enjoyed by all, including my fussy children. We will stay again on our next family visit.

Very Good
GGuest UserReally helpful staff. Let us securely leave travel case before check-in time. Contacted us early (1PM) to let us have our apartment before the 3PM check-in. Apartment really is home from home! Fully kitted out kitchen. Modern furnishing, decoration and really clean. The apartments really our sound proofed and internally very quiet. Quiet complex and lift or stairs to aid access to apartments. Nice, warm and secure. Reception is hosted and even late at night you have an access code. The lovely lady on reception even said can call her if we could not gain entry! Perfect location - 2 minute walk to Oracle (shops) bars and restaurants. Even Sainsbury's is close so you can cook a meal in the kitchen. We guess the only thing to be aware is the complex is in a vibrant area and externally until 0200/0300 it is noisy so an earlyish night is not easy but this aside, well worth a stay.
GGuest UserI stayed at the Market House for one night to recover after a long flight. My room (room 1 on the first floor) delighted me. I loved the bright, quirky decoration, excellent, spotless bathroom, comfortable mattress and the superior tea/coffee selection. So much thought had gone into decorating and equipping the room. The heating (on a cold, cold day) was brilliant. I slept so well (note it was midweek and there was no noise from the bar below or on the street outside). Checking-in, however, could have been better -- I needed to make a phone call from the street outside -- and the staff member with whom I dealt appeared disappointingly subdued about Reading and about the hotel itself.
Thank you for a lovely stay at the Mansion House. We were both very impressed with the room, very spacious and beautiful views outside. Decor was stylish, room was clean & breakfast really good! (great gluten free options) I can tell they really put effort into their customer service because it was on point. We enjoyed our stay here a lot
7710huwjThe hotel was excellent, in our room was a comfortable King size bed, with good en suite facilities. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful with a good knowledge of the locality. We opted for the full English breakfast, which was supplemental to the room charge, but was well cooked and tasty, and gave a good start to the day. Although about a mile from the city centre, the hotel is only a couple of hundred yards from a bus stop with frequent services to the city centre. There is free off road parking.Thoroughly recommended.
GGuest UserI have stayed There 3 times and every time I have stayed in a internal room as that is all they say they have left . Each time I have stayed I get a burning and scratching feeling and then wen I shower it goes but wen I leave the hotel as staff are excellent and don’t want any one in trouble but to get to the horrible point as I travel a lot I got a rash on all 3 occasions over the last 5 years and My Gp has said look on Google and I am knot the only one . I have a chemical reaction from who they sublet there bed lining to of as they say could be Bed Mites / My hole face and cheek of face both sides and Neck have been bitten / so the chemical hasn’t been ruled out but bed Mites are 100% true the chemicals of the Blotches all over My face and poker dots are mites the burning sensation is the strong chemical is to hide it . Watch this Space I’m Knot one to complain as trip adviser know I’m honest in what I say . If any one has had any symptoms like mine please speak out . Pjt
AArunReally nice stay for reasonable rate and really helpful staff. Thank you so much. It was a good experience. Will recommend my family and friends if they need a stay in Reading.
