I've had the pleasure of staying at Penghana on several occasions and can't wait to stay again next time I'm on the wild west coast. There is so much history in this incredible town and Penghana is the perfect place to retire after your daily adventures. The rooms are immaculate and everything has been thought of. The hosts Steve and Karen have since become friends as they went above and beyond to make every stay joyful and luxurious. I have stayed in nearly every room at one time or another and each has it's own unique charm. Karen makes a beautiful soup if you're after a nice supper and don't want to venture out, definitely recommend this! The cellar is well stocked with local and international wines for a nightcap and there's chocolate to match. I just loved my time staying here, it felt like home, only nicer. Steve and Karen are incredibly knowledgable and always accommodating if you're interested in a friendly chat about the history of the house and surrounds. They're also very understanding when privacy is preferred. Staying at Penghana truly is like stepping back in time, a rare treat you won't forget.

This most beautiful National Trust property is now the most delightful and sumptuous B and B. The rooms are stuffed with gorgeous furniture, super comfortable big beds and lovely art. Linen is top quality, towels are fluffy, hot water is generous and consistent, a bugbear of mine is dodgy showers! The hosts, Karen and Steve know their business and it’s their little touches that raise this place up. Things like complimentary port and fruitcake are a nice surprise. A complimentary taxi down to the pub and back goes above and beyond. I was there for a number of days and nothing was too much, yet at the same time they are discreet and let you do your own thing. It was the middle of winter, but sitting in the lounge with a book from their collection and a glass of red surrounded by Queenstown’s history was special indeed. Best view of the town and the mountains.

High on a hill in picturesque Queenstown sits Penghana, a charming period homestead. Once inside we were welcomed by the most delightful hosts and stunning accommodation with superb attention to detail. Karen and Steve were so kind and thoughtful and made us feel truly at home. The rooms are beautifully fitted out and the beds wonderfully comfortable. Penghana is the perfect base to explore the west of Tasmania. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We had an extended stay in Queenstown for business and we stayed at Penghana for a couple of months. The hosts, Steve and Karen welcomed us warmly and we immediately felt at home. The house has been thoughtfully and meticulously restored and it's like stepping back in time in this historic 'grand old dame' - the toast of Queenstown! Our suite was sparkling clean and beautifully furnished and the bed was delightful - cozy, comfortable, with beautiful linen and pillows. Bathrobes/dressing gowns and complimentary slippers are another lovely touch. We stayed during the height of winter and we were thankful for the excellent heating in our suite. Thank you for such a unique and lovely stay - Penghana is the place to stay while exploring Tassie's West Coast Wilderness.

Steve and Karen host a truly unique B&B experience in an amazing National Trust home. Perched on top of the town Penghana House seems imposing but is warm and friendly inside. Lovely food, great service and excellent accommodation. We had a great couple of nights here to enjoy the region

We have stayed in BnBs in various countries, but none have come up to the standard we experienced here. Great room, top breakfast, friendly owners, who give you the history of the place, and what their dreams are for it. Definitely 5 Stars. Will return to it in the future. Thanks to Steven and Karen

Penghana is an extraordinary place with a fascinating history 125 years in the making. Our hosts Karen and Steve were friendly and inclusive offering a warm welcome, pristine accommodation and an array of breakfast options to fit every taste. They even offer to drive you to your evening restaurant of choice and collect you again. They’re both extremely attentive and kind. The Owen room is outstanding, maintained beautifully as a piece of history but with every modern convenience including a fabulous shower and Netflix if that’s your thing - and let’s not forget the unbelievable view across Queenstown. If you can get a vacancy, take it - it’s well worth it to experience the Penghana effect.

We have just enjoyed the most fabulous stay at Penghana - it exceeded our expectations in every way. This is an outstanding experience - not just a stay - a real experience because of the commitment from Steve and Karen to caring for the house and its community, and to ensuring your time there is enjoyable in every way and is an eye-opener to the history and current story of the West coast. Our room (Owen) was stunning and had every comfort; Steve's breakfasts are delicious and reflect Tasmanian produce quality; the house and garden are beautiful; and we greatly enjoyed the conversations and learnings. We will most definitely come again. Thank you so much.
