Indifferent staff greet you on arrival. The room had a forgotten air about it. This room has a massive bathroom that was actually larger then the space the two single beds occupied in the main section. The small terrace was dirty with old dried bird excrement. The bathroom floor was sticky with what I hope was cleaning product residue ( I advise wearing shoes in the shower ). The shower head was clogged and only had minimal function. The towels were threadbare and there were none of the usual extras I would expect to see at this price point- no shower cap, lotion or indeed decent shampoo. The bed headboard was made of fake leather that has been worn through and not repaired / replaced. Plastic “glasses” and paper cups are supplied in the room for minimal deference to the needs of the guests however on request from the restaurant I got two real glasses to use. Cleanliness does not seem to be a theme at this hotel. The restaurant payment system did not integrate to the main hotel payment system which was an inconvenience and despite being quite expensive my hamburger would have been better used to repair the roads outside. I’d advise booking in the restaurant as despite being 70% unoccupied - it was “full” according to the staff. Breakfast brought a new set of terrors - the scrambled egg was burned brown and seemed to made from something other than real eggs. The boiled eggs were dark green inside and tasteless. I finally opted for a stale Picasso inspired croissant and coffee. I would happily recommend this to my enemies. I wonder if any directors of this company have ever stepped inside this hotel unannounced and experienced what they expect their customers to. The only reason it got two stars is that it’s a nice location and the WiFi was free and worked.

Wij boekten 1 overnachting in dit hotel. Onze Comfort Tweepersoonskamer was heel goed (16m² voor 2 personen). Er was geen lawaai en de kamer was in orde en proper. Hand- en douchezeep van Blue Collection waren aanwezig. Ook handdoeken waren voorzien. Wij hebben er heerlijk geslapen. Ook top dat er geen vasttapijt is in de kamer. Het hotel is mooi gelegen, op wandelafstand van het centrum waar je winkels, bars en restaurants vindt. De prachtige omgeving van het hotel nodigt uit om na het diner nog een avondwandeling te maken en te genieten van de rust. Het onthaal was heel goed. Alle medewerkers waren zeer vriendelijk en zeer behulpzaam. Wij hebben in het hotel gegeten en dat was voor ons in orde. Aandachtspunten: Het lijkt ons aangewezen om mensen in dienst te nemen die Nederlands kennen. Voor het diner in het restaurant werden wij bediend door een meisje die het Nederlands niet machtig was waardoor wij op het Engels moesten overschakelen. Haar Nederlandstalige collega had het gezien en sprong snel bij maar het bezorgde ons toch een gevoel van ongemak. Vooral ook omdat ze na dit voorval onze tafel bleef bedienen, wat wij niet bepaald klantvriendelijk vonden. Wij verblijven niet in een hotel in Nederland om er dan Engels te moeten spreken. In een hotel in Nederland moeten alle medewerkers, en zeker diegenen die contact hebben met de gasten, het Nederlands machtig zijn. Ook mocht voor ons de radio tijdens het ontbijt wat stiller staan. Vele hotels zijn helaas in dit bedje ziek. Moet er dan toch per se van ‘s morgens vroeg een radio opstaan, dan kan er misschien eens gekozen worden voor wat rustigere muziek? Verder is dit hotel natuurlijk een typische Fletcher: een beetje afgeleefd. Bepaalde zaken kunnen nochtans snel opgelost worden: silicone afdichting in de douche, stof afnemen in de ontbijtzaal, de kasten wat opknappen, zien dat alles er ordelijk bijligt en dat er geen rommel rondslingert of op kasten opgestapeld wordt. Slotsom: dit verblijf was voor ons een zeer positieve ervaring. Onze aandachtspunten zijn zeker en vast geen minpunten. Wij zijn zeer tevreden van ons verblijf en kunnen dit hotel aanbevelen. Wij komen zeker nog eens terug! Bedankt aan het hele team voor het goede werk.

Room was as I had anticipated from the reviews and photos that it was very dated with faded carpet etc but clean and a very big family room with the two kids single beds up a very steep set of wooden stairs in the room (so steep that I actually had my youngest sleep downstairs and I slept upstairs as I was concerned that if he woke in the night for the toilet which was downstairs he might fall down them). The room was very warm so windows open was a must. The noise from the bar outside the room finished at around 12:30am and then young people sat shouting and drinking in the square outside the room until about 3am. Not great for a family room. Whilst I know this wasn’t the hotels fault, when I told staff at checkout about this their reply was ‘yes it’s always like that, bad isn’t it.’ I did say that had I know the family room looked over a noisy square where people congregated at night I wouldn’t have booked it and they should probably tell people this, the staff said thank you. Also there is a window next to the two childrens beds in the upstairs part of the family room that doesn’t have a curtain on it so whilst the main windows do have good curtains, if your children wake up to light there is a lot coming in that room in the morning. A shame as you’d have thought that was an easy fix for the hotel so why they’ve not done it I don’t know. Lovely town, hotel dated but nice but just not much sleep on a Friday night after a long day travelling from the Uk with children.

We recently spent 2 nights in Maassluis while on a bike trip around Holland. I was looking for a place to spend a day off the bikes, relaxing, and I was looking for something modern in that part of Holland. We knew nothing about Maassluis but it sounded interesting to be right on the seaway into Rotterdam. And the hotel website photos looked very appealing. We were not disappointed! The hotel is in a renovated historic building; it's been open almost one year, so the property feels and looks brand new. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome, even allowing us to being our bikes into a conference room for safekeeping. We had a huge room on the second floor with a glorious view over the harbor and the seaway. We could sit in the room and see huge ships passing by, all the time. The rooms are decorated in a maritime style, blues and grays, and totally modern. Huge windows with lots of light, air conditioning that worked perfectly, very spacious with sufficient storage space, and a totally modern bath area with huge open shower. (The shower is so large that even without a door, no water runs into the rest of the space.) We even had a large outdoor patio space overlooking the harbor. A nice buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant area. The hotel location on the seaway is worth it, although it does take about 10-15 min to walk to the heart of town. It's a nice walk and a quiet one (once you cross the main road/train), so not a problem. And it's a lovely town - without hordes of tourists! We loved staying there and although we don't have much reason to go back to Maassluis, we might do so just to enjoy the hotel again.
