I stayed in this hotel several times before the epidemic. It is more than ten minutes' drive from Kyoto Station and a small square from JR Kusatsu Station. For people who are tired from a day's travel, it is more convenient than hotels in Kyoto with inconvenient transportation. I chose this hotel again for my first trip to Kansai after the epidemic. I bought a Kansai Wide Area Tour Pass and it is not a problem to stay here and go anywhere. Although the facilities are not modern, the room area is large enough, and the service and catering of the old-fashioned hotel give people a good feeling.

It is just off Yakkaichi station of OMI Railway. I had a job nearby and stayed. It was good to have this hotel here. I stay at work everywhere, but no matter where I stay, I have a sense of security if it is a brand of this hotel. The room was relaxing here and dinner was also eaten in the building.

When visiting Kyoto, we wanted to enjoy some time in an onsen resort so we decided to spend two nights in Ogoto Onsen. After checking the details in their website, we booked a ”Biwa no kaze”room with private onsen and view of Lake Biwako. And we were not disappointed. The room looks newly renovated, and is very spacious with two beds and sitting area plus a tatami room. They offer different dinner packages, and we have chosen crab with steak as the main dishes for the first night, and lobster with shabu-shabu the second night. The foods were of very high quality, tasted and looked very nice. The breakfast buffet was very good with a wide selection of different items. The ryokan is excellent in nearly all aspects. We would stay here again when we next visit Kyoto.

I booked an executive room with an independent open hot spring and a halal menu. The spacious room has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lake. The dinner is a lot of dishes and delicious! From steamed crabs to thinly sliced beef, you will definitely have a range of cuisines to choose from. I plan to do it again next winter.

I stayed this time for my mother's birthday celebration. The facilities and baths were very good, but unfortunately it was a request of my mother to eat a blue-necked makamo no nabe, but it was a little different from expectations 々. My mother from the local area was looking for a duck suki that I used to eat a lot, but ... I checked some other inns in advance, but there are many places where Omi beef sukiyaki and kaiseki dishes are sold. I like to eat Is it because the number of customers is less than in the past ... Came here with family during the Sakura season. It's easy to get to the onset hotel. After arriving at the Ogoto Onsen JR station, towards the south exit you will find a cell phone attached to a board with explanation how to use the phone to call one of the onsen hotels. After the call, their shuttle bus will then come and pick you up between 2pm to 6pm I think. The hotel staff in general are very welcoming. Our family scored a deal with their penthouse suite with private indoor and outdoor onsen. Four of us stayed in the suite and the price is only slightly more than four of us staying in 2 regular rooms. It also came with a beautiful fruit platter for you to enjoy. The suite is very spacious with 2 separate toilets. The bath area has 2 sinks, a shower stall as well as a japanese style bathing area connected to the 2 onsen baths (indoor one is a hinoki wood tub and the outdoor one is a stone one. The outdoor onsen does have a slight privacy issue as there are some residential buildings in a distance. While my mom was a bit too modest to use the outdoor one (which I am not and fully enjoyed it), she did take full advantage of the indoor private onsen. Of course the hotel also has a public onsen for the guests. In fact they have two. One in each towers. I used the one on the top floor in the morning and it was a bless seeing the sunrise while soaking in the hot onsen water. Our package also included both dinner and breakfast that were served at their private dining room. Both meals were done in kaiseki style. We were particularly impressed by their dinner. Not only was it cooked with high quality ingredients and with beautiful presentation, they did not skimp on the quantity as well. Often after eating dinner at other onsen hotel, I would not feel full and actually felt a bit hungry later at night, at Yumotokan the courses kept coming and I was completely stuffed at the end. In fact I did not finish the rice even though it was so yummy (cooked from scratch in front of us with a flamed mini-stove). All in all, a very satisfactory experience. I can recommend anyone who comes to Kyoto/Osaka and wants an excursion and experiences the traditional Japanese onsen.

To be honest, I booked it as an alternative because the Toyoko Inn I used before in a place that can be said to be next door is full. Compared to the Toyoko Inn price on the same day, there was a feeling of expectation that the price was higher even after using the coupon than the twin of Toyoko Inn member discount. I think the size of the room is a little larger than Hikone in Toyoko Inn. It wasn't a wall hanging, it didn't have a minimal door, but there was also a closet-like space. The corridor was also wide and it seemed to be better sound insulation than Toyoko Inn. On the contrary, the bathroom and toilet had a sense of preview in the arrangement and size so that I thought I was staying at Toyoko Inn, and I didn't feel the difference. It was very similar to the shampoos on the wall. I didn't feel the difference between the two about the bed. Although it is on the same side from Hikone Station, it is closer to the station than Toyoko Inn, and it was a distance where you could leave your luggage after checking out and go sightseeing (although it would be a small difference for a car, Considering the small number of trains on foot, the distance makes you want to use the station locker rather than leaving your luggage at Toyoko Inn.) The breakfast venue is large and there is plenty of room. There are many kinds of things to eat. I think that there were many western style things such as two kinds of smoothies, soup, waffles and yogurt, and it was good to be able to eat calmly and eat alone in the feeling that it was not a seat. I think it's good for people who put emphasis on breakfast. It was a little disappointing when I returned to pick up my luggage at noon after sightseeing (the luggage can be unmanned, such as passing through a wire with a locker or dial lock), and there was no one at the front desk. A very busy movement was conveyed from the dining space. After all, I found it myself, but I couldn't ask anyone even if I wanted to rent a toilet.
