Since its renovations this hotel now feels very slick and stylish. The rooms look great with its modern look, while still giving off warm and welcoming vibes. Beds are comfortable, and newly renovated bathrooms look great. Unfortunately, all of this aesthetic appeal is let down somewhat by the staff. I was barely greeted or acknowledged by the reception staff, and I was made to feel like I was interrupting them. There was no offer of help for my luggage or even recognition that someone with 2 large suitcases (and a child) would need assistance. The rooms no longer have phones inside them. Rather, the phone number to reception was provided during check-in. This normally wouldn't be an issue, however it seems like they just don't like answering their phone. I tested this theory myself by going into the lobby and calling the reception. Neither staff were attending to guests, and yet I can very plainly see the phone flashing and being ignored. I loved the decor and stylish touches of this new-look Rydges. Sadly, my most memorable experience from this hotel was rolling the hotel baggage cart to my room by myself to take down my luggage.

The hotel itself was good , what wasn’t great was being woken up by 5 false fire alarms. Starting at 7am. All of which were followed by an even louder announcement.

Although the hotel is not located in the CBD, the transportation and environment are very good, and it is quiet in the bustling city. Transportation: Turn left and walk to the intersection for about 3 minutes to the newly built subway station Victoria Cross. This station is very large. I went to Sydney to run the marathon and chose this hotel which is very close to the starting point. Although it is in North Sydney which is not very busy, the price is quite high because of the event. The hotel is not big and the breakfast is basically not suitable for Chinese people. It was a place I happened to stay at, but I had a great time for two nights. Public transportation was right next door, so it was easy to get around! However, there was no sidewalk, so I had to keep driving on the road.

The room was nice but there were no slippers or toothbrushes, so you had to bring them yourself or go to the front desk to get them. It was very noisy at night. I don't know why there was an intermittent roar in the middle of the night and I couldn't sleep well.
