Stayed two nights at 'The Reef Beachfront Apartments' Found our apartment spacious, clean, and beautifully appointed. The apartment was 'immaculate.' The pool and spa were within easy reach, and 'The Reef' offered secure undercover parking. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'The Reef,.' The receptionist was friendly, and helpful. We would have no hesitation recommending 'The Reef' to anyone wanting a comfortable, reasonably priced apartment. Top Class. Will be back soon.

Location was great. Easy walk to The Mount and the beach. Lots of shops, restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Bed was super comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped. Could have been more generous with toilet paper, bin liners, and soap provided in the room, but I guess if we asked management for more it would have been provided. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

The accommodation was spacious, recently renovated with gorgeous decor and a beautiful place to stay across from the beach and right under the mountain. Checkin was simple and staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Booked last minute as a birthday treat. Did not realise on booking that you had to check in before 6pm, I called at 5.55 to let them know we were 10 minutes alway but no answer. Arrived just after 6pm, had to call the after hours we were meet by a man, we had already prepaid the room which was $266 for a bottom floor, one bedroom apartment. He told us we needed to pay a bond which I assumed would be $50-$100. We had to pay a $250 bond upfront to stay here. That was our dinner and activities money for the night. So had to cancel our plans. The room was dated, there was no body/hair wash left. There was no milk in the fridge so couldn't make a hot drink. As others have mentioned there are signs all over the room about extra charges, if you ring them after 9pm for anything you will get charged, if you leave anything in the room you will be charged and even more unnecessary fees. Tiny rubbish bin. The room was a good size but the headboard on the double bed isn't attached so everytime you turn over it bangs and so when you are there for a child free night you can imagine how much it was banging. It was right next to the road and it was a raining miserable night and it was loud, cars driving past, people walking/running past you can hear everything, image it during the busy season. The noise from the above room you can here people walking around. We were quite disappointed so I had a look at the other reviews this morning and I really wish I had of read them before booking here :( On check out which you had to wait as they are only there at reception between 8.30-10am on weekends. I asked the man to refund my $250 bond and he said that he can't and it won't be refunded until about Tuesday but it can take 10 business days. We had said about the missing amenities and he didn't care. Then we asked about all the bad reviews and he started getting angry. My husband reliased we had left a bag in the room and wanted to go get it and as we were approaching the room my husband made a comment about no wonder you have so many bad reviews and he told my husband to shut his mouth and he locked the room door and said to get out! He was not going to allow us to go back into the room to get our things. And said to ring the police if we wanted our stuff back. By this stage my husband was really mad and I ended up needing to call the police so they could go get our stuff from the room. Our uber driver had shown up and manager/man on reception had disappeared and some other lady that was obviously to what was happening came out and I said can I just get the key and I'll go get our stuff since we don't actually have to check out until 10am and she was saying I can't, I don't know what is happening. A couple minutes later she comes back in with our bag and continued to argue. Even the uber driver heard it and he is a 70 year old man and he came in to the reception and said they should not of been treating customer how they treated us. I will be going to

HOLIDAY NOT BUSINESS TRIP After a 30 hour flight from England to NZ, we checked into the hotel exhausted and in need of a wash and relaxation. Coming up from behind the hotel, it doesn't look like much, however when you view it from the street behind (where the door isnt) it is quite something to behold. We went over to the desk to find a very enthusiastic woman called Julia. She welcomed us warmly to the hotel, was delighted we prepaid and explains everything about the hotel we needed to know in a detailed concise speech i'm sure she needs a raise for. Her whole manner picks up our mood as she enquires about us and our holiday. Julia is by far the best thing about this hotel, throughout our stay she was very helpful, ordering us a taxi (they have this button so you don't have to pre-order one) and greeting us whenever we came into the hotel. The other hotel staff were nice, pleasant and helpful enough, especially when i locked the room key in our room...but Julia stood out by a mile. We booked a twin room and had been upgraded to a twin room with double beds and a balcony! On account of us staying a full week Julia went through how how we can order more toilet rolls, products ect and new towels. Due to covid they dont clean rooms until you check out. On the balcony was a fan and inside we had a mini fridge. Not sure if these two things are in all NZ hotels due to the heat, but it was much appreciated! The bathroom was massive, a spacious place with bathtub with spa bubble option and two his and hers sinks joined with a massive mirror. The hair products were local and contained no SLS ect. and came in refillable bottles fixed to the walls. It's the first time ive actually used the products in a hotel! The hotel room itself was quite large, the NZ fern design on pillows and a large closet with extra pillows and blankets. Loads of herbal tea (jasmine green, lemon ect.), coffee and even wine glasses! A small table in the corner was a good size, I dislike when desks are too big with massive chairs that take up all the space. This was not so in our room! Beside each bed was a draws to store even more stuff in. One of the best, most spacious hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. We also got a voucher for some money off in the eatery but we never had breakfast there or dinner so i can't comment on the food. I did go into the breakfast hall and it seemed like continental with limited hot food. The usual, toast, jams, cereal, fruit ect. The hotel has an outdoor swimming, laundry facilities (which were most helpful as they supply you with powder). We asked a few times for our bottles to be refilled as no water fountain and members if staff seemed happy to do so. As the hotel is in the centre of the CBD loads of cafes and restaurants were within a short walking distance. I stayed in room 002, ground floor. This was a two bedroom apartment (I was upgraded). It was spacious, and clean and tidy. I've stayed in Quests from Auckland to Invercargill and this was one of the best. I book serviced apartments when I travel so I can prepare my own food. Often the kitchens are quite poorly equipped. Maybe there's no sieve, or no tin opener, or no vegetable peeler. This one had everything I needed for once! And they passed my personal acid test: the iron was completely free of burn marks! The staff at Quest kindly took my supermarket delivery order and even put things in the freezer and fridge as appropriate (I've had other places leave frozen food to thaw). It's quiet and well positioned for the centre of town. Unlimited WiFi is a real plus. I'm not much of a TV watcher but there seemed to be a full Sky service.

The hotel is located in the city center, eating and shopping is also convenient. Similar to a business hotel, the room is large and clean. The only thing that bothers me is the smart light. At night, no one walks around and it is completely off. It is very unfriendly to me who likes to leave the light at night. I don't know if I didn't set it up.

Everything was ideal for our stay at the motel. We arrived without a booking due to complications with another booking we had made in town and Lorraine and Athol found us alternative accommodation until they had a vacancy for us. We found the unit spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The daily servicing was carried out by very friendly staff. The location is within easy walking distance to the CBD to enjoy the variety of cafes, restaurants, bars, shops and an easy drive to the fabulous beaches at the Mount and Papamoa beaches. We will definitely stay there again and recommend the Harbour View Motel as a great place to stay. Thanks, Lorraine and Athol.

Resorts, mainly self-service. The environment is very good and the sea view is invincible. Small lines, Chinese New Year did not meet people. Cooking by yourself, BBQ on the beach is very good, 500 meters away from the supermarket.
