Great hotel right by the sea with a great garden! The restaurant was great! Unfortunately for a 5 star hotel, there was little water in the room and Nespresso machine. There was also no cosmetics or soap! Service in the room was OK

Just returned from a lovely week in the Riu Palace but not a five star hotel, we would rate it four star. Our room which we upgraded to a sea view was lovely and well equipped, cleaned and bed turned down every night which was great with towels changed on request. There are plenty of pools to choose from and we never had any problems getting a sun bed at any time of the day. Hotel buffet restaurant always had lots of different themed areas and menu was changed on a daily basis, but two big negatives which in our opinion makes it a four star was firstly the warmth of the food which on some occasions was verging on being cold and way below the temperatures food should be served, during our visit this was a topic discussed many times with other guests during our stay. The second negative and I see it was highlighted before was the amount of broken crockery used during our stay and after being pointed out was never put aside, not five star on both negatives. I should point out that all the staff were excellent and work extremely hard, especially during busy times, and no one ever passes you without saying hello, a lovely touch, and there are a couple of other Restaurants in the hotel you can visit when on a HB basis. The hotel is well situated and access to the promenade is very easy and the bus station which we used to visit Porto Rico and Porto Mogan is only ten minutes away, buses are very frequent and relatively cheap and both places which are lovely are a must visit when in the area. Another must do is attend the Riu party night on a Friday evening in the adjoining Riu hotel, we had a great night, and it was attended by all ages. All in all this is a lovely four star hotel with plenty of hard working staff but needs a couple of changes to make it Five star.

The staff is friendly, and the hotel is clean. Initially, they mistakenly placed us in a double room, but they quickly and efficiently corrected it, moving us to the king-sized room we had booked. Unfortunately, we could only reserve a half-board option, and the buffet had very limited vegetarian choices—almost nothing for vegetarians. The air conditioning in the gym is not functioning. Additionally, I had a poor customer experience at this hotel. Before booking, I reached out multiple times to customer service to inquire about using the piano in one of the bars. As a professional pianist, it’s important for me to practice during my holidays. However, I never received a response. Despite this, we decided to stay at the hotel, hoping they would allow me to use the piano during quiet hours, even for just one hour. Unfortunately, the receptionist refused. It seems the hotel is too large, with too many guests, and they don’t prioritize customer service or offer a personal touch.

What a fabulous hotel. The breakfast and dinner buffets were fresh and extensive. Cleanliness was superb. Service was smiley and friendly. The pools were immaculate and most of the time the fellow guests were considerate and respectful.

We were at the RIU Palace for both Christmas and New Year . The entertainment throughout this time was so much better than normal especially those around the first pool

Love the hotel - superb well attended grounds -- the chefs do a magnificent job with food -- friendly staff and you would be difficult to fault them on anything at all

It was such a lovely hotel, attentive professional staff, great food, immaculate grounds and pools. Yoga every morning and infinity pools in the afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed our break here and will return next year. Great location right by the sea where you can watch the sunset from the pools.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, fantastic food, nice location at the waterfront. OK gym and spa area. Only missing some more activities at the area like boule, dart, padeltenis.

Our 2nd visit in 2 years. We're a family of 4 & this hotel has exactly what we're looking for: excellent food, peace & quiet, great service and a clean environment. Plus the location is stunning! There's so much space to choose from by the many pools (so no need to save loungers though of course, some do!). After dinner, there's a great choice of where to sit whether you want to be near the entertainment or have a quieter time with drinks. The entire hotel is spotlessly clean including the food service area which is constantly kept clean during meals. (Housekeeping are the superstars of this place!) Poolside&pool cafe/bar service is excellent. Food & drink quality, variety and amounts are amazing (& reasonably priced). The only slight difference this time was that the restaurant waiting staff weren't as friendly as last time & the evening bar service although friendly wasn't quite as attentive in the outside areas. There seemed to be a lot of new faces &we thought this might be a training period. I'm sure all will be back to standard by the time we visit again. 2 helpful changes would be: USB sockets in the room & the safe included for free. Looking forward to returning!

We have stayed at most of the high standard hotels in Melonares/Maspalomas until we came across this one. We have returned many times and would not consider changing in the future. The rooms, facilities and staff are first class. The breakfast and dinner buffets are difficult to not over indulge.

We stayed a family of three adults in the room. The two main beds were very comfortable. The additional bed (sofa) was very poor quality and not suitable for adults sleeping (this is the reason for only 3* in sleep quality).

Fantastic hotel great staff good food and peace and quiet never slept so well and the cleaning staff where totally excellent.

Our second visit. All aspects of staff service level were excellent. The buffet quality and enormous selection were the best we have seen. The speciality restaurants offer an excellent experience. Room was most comfortable and everywhere was clean and well maintained. Apart from one group the entertainment was good with Dukes Band being the outstanding act. This hotel is more suited to the elderly client and as Germans are the main tourist they are adept with the early sun bed towel. If you enjoy the Riu brand and would return to one of its hotels then join the Riu Club to gain points which can be used against your drinks bill.

We got fed up with the wet weather in the U.K. so decided to take a break. We booked a trip only two days ahead and found this hotel during an on-line search. It sounded good so we took a chance. We have visited the Canary Islands for many years and have found many good hotels but this one is truly exceptional. When thinking of writing a review I considered what I could criticise. However, I quickly realised that there was very little to criticise. The bedrooms are nicely decorated, the bathrooms are excellent and both are immaculately clean. The hotel grounds are lovely. Bars and their staff are excellent and offer a good choice of areas to sit. The main dining area is very pleasant, the food is good quality and the waiting staff work very hard to make the experience as good as possible. Our only difficulty in the whole holiday was when we booked a meal in the “Krystal” a La Carte restaurant. We booked our visit at Reception but, when we arrived at the restaurant, the reservation had not reached them. We were unable to rebook as we were due to leave. I am happy to leave a very positive review of this hotel. We will certainly return.
