Although it is hard to get to Shirahone Onsen, I absolutely enjoyed staying at Shirafune Grand Hotel. Very cozy and excellent for quiet relaxation

Old hotel. But it's very clean and the service is very good. In Japan today, it can be regarded as a secret hot spring that is relatively easy to access. Worth a visit.

The hotel is large, the rooms are warm, the food is good, and there is a shuttle bus to the bus station.

The service staff are friendly, but they are really busy and the food is served slowly during the meal

The room is relatively small but has everything. first rate service. The food was great, the same for both days. From Bones to Pingtang, I asked the lady at the front desk to make an appointment for a rental, which was extremely smooth. I miss this deep secret place.

After traveling from Kamikochi, take a bus and change buses at Zedu (k20). After getting off the bus at Baigu Hot Spring, you will find the hotel. An old man will ask you about the hotel you booked, and then call the hotel. There will be a car to pick you up from the hotel (although it is not far, it is all uphill). The service attitude was very good. I met a Hong Kong man at the front desk who was very patient in helping us plan our itinerary for the next day. The hot spring has an open air.

My family of four stayed in a corner suite comprising of a large living room and a smaller bedroom. We also requestedfor a dpuble futon mattress and a humidifier which the hotrl provided. The onsrn, both indoor and outdoor was amazing. So sothing to just immerse in the theraupetic waters after each day of long trekking. The food was also outstanding. We stayed for 3 days and every dinner each day was different and specially customised to our dietary preferences. We slept soundly each night. The chillt mountain air kept us all tucked in bed for long hours. Shirafune Grand is prob the largest and most modrtn ryokan complex in shirahone onsen. Am glad we did pur extensive research and opted to stay with them.

As others have written, the room I stayed in was on the concrete rooftop of the adjacent building, and the view outside the window was amazing. I had high expectations because it was called a Grand Hotel, but it was just an ordinary inn. It was nice that the lobby, front desk, and lounge had paintings by Higashiyama Kaii and Hirayama Ikuo on display. However, even though there is an elevator in the building, it does not go directly to the hot springs, which is the most important part. The elevator goes up to the lobby, and you have to go down the stairs beyond that to get to the hot springs in the basement. Furthermore, the stairs have a big step at the landing, so it is dangerous. The open-air hot springs can only be accessed by going outside the large bath and going down the stairs. Because of this, it was very cold in October and no one was in the baths.
