Forty-Seven

Just returned from a lovely 1 night stay at forty-seven. Upon arrival the smell of the lobby area was beautiful, greeted by lovely front of house staff. The room we booked a cosy king room. The bathroom has lovely L'Occitane products to use which were lovely. And fluffy bathrobes which we did use. I think we ended up with an accessible room because the shower was a wet room fitted with chair and emergency alarms. However to get to the room we had to walk up steps to get the lift so im not sure how that would work if you were in a wheelchair also the room was very small one side of the bed was almost touching the wall just about fit down the side past the mirror. (The mirror has a pull out ironing board inside which was cute) Anyway, regardless of that we actually really loved the small size of the room, the tv swings out so you can watch it while in bed, and is beautiful decorated. We didn't use the mini bar, but be aware that they take a £100 from your account on check in incase you do. It is refunded on check out. We had a free drink in the bar down stairs which was really nice, I love a good glass to drink from and all of theres including ones in the room are chef and sommelier. We had a continental breakfast in the morning which was included in the rate, it was lovely. You book a time for arrival and it came on time. There a nice amount of food on there. There was cereal, muffins, croissants, jams, cereal bars, apples, yogurts, fresh orange and milk. We thought it was a nice touch. We had a great sleep, soft pillows and comfortable mattress. We had a little trouble with the heating, however i called the reception who were able to sort it out without even coming up to the room. I did try to book a suite but they were all sold out at the time of booking, but we did a great stay in our cosy room. Its in a great location, right nearby the spinningfields area of manchester. We will be back :)

Room was nicely decorated that’s about it, tight squeeze limited storage and noise from outside was terrible. We stayed on NYE and the light’s randomly turned on in the middle of the night and then completely turned off but never came back on until we checked out at 11am. Reception staff were friendly but no apology or communication.

The best night , the best staff and the best room. Can only thank the staff especially Ryan for their excellent care and service , not only did they make our anniversary special but they exceeded expectations. We would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for a Xmas party, the checkin was great, the bar noise was madness even at 5pm. The room was fine, had most things we needed except a flannel. Mini bar was there for a drink. We stayed here for the 5* service and extras, our needs were sadly not met, we paid £250 for our nights stay, with only continental breakfast (very disappointing) no room service to be seen, and when we returned at midnight from our event, the bar was closed, we expect more from a hotel bar in the city centre. Very disappointing, and then not to receive a hearty breakfast felt somewhat disappointing, we booked this for a lavish and boutique experience to spoil ourselves, sadly it didn’t offer the extras that other hotels in the same vicinity offer. We won’t be returning. So sorry.

We laid out around £450 for a ‘signature suite’ with friends who had the same room above us. Same rates as the Dakota and Lowry were charging for the night. I have never had such an appalling sleep in years. The windows keep absolutely none of the outside noise out (these rooms face the front street) and we were kept up all night with the noise of shouting, screaming, car horns, traffic and revving of engines. It was so ridiculous I recorded the noise on my phone while sat on the bed. The staff at the hotel were all lovely (reception, bar) but the sleep experience let it down completely. Room was an odd configuration and unimpressive. Didn’t offer a room service breakfast option. The hotel kept trying to upsell a ‘late’ checkout (12pm!) ahead of my stay. All-in-all really disappointing. Also, our friends preordered a ‘breakfast hamper/tray’ but when they enquired about it on the morning were told “oh, somebody should have said we’re not doing these today”. Really? Save yourself the money, eye bags and frustration and book elsewhere.

I had a good stay, the location is super central and my room was cosy and stylish with exposed brick walls and funky, retro furnishings. Further plus points include the excellent multi-channel TV, coffee,tea making facilities and mini bar, and comfy bed and lovely L'Occitane toiletries. I'd noted the reviews complaining of noise and thus requested a quiet room. It appeared to have substantial double glazing, and given my stay was mid week - I hoped to be spared from the reported racket. But sadly not. I did lose sleep due to the din from the street, as merry revellers made their way home, through the wee hours. Such a shame as the hotel has plenty else to commend. It's chic boutique in style, with just 32 bedrooms, a bar (The Peterman), and upscale Indian restaurant, Asha's. Staff in all departments were helpful and friendly. It would have been 5/5 if not for the noise issue.
