Chilcabamba Lodge

This was an amazing lodge with wonderful experiences. We stayed in the family cabin, and my teenage children were very comfortable in their two bedroom room off the central living room. The cabin was on the small side, but we spent very little time inside it. There was a wood stove, which was nice for the chilly evenings. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped arrange our transportation to and from Quito, and an amazing three hour horseback ride through the Andes, passing by waterfalls, lava formations from the local volcanoes and other beautiful sites. On our second day, we went on a full day exploration of Cotopaxi national Park. We started the day with an amazing climb of the mountain, Cotopaxi. We drove up part of the way, and then hiked to the base camp. We went slowly, because of the altitude. It is very high! We then had a little rest at base camp, before we elected to continue on to the glacier. It was amazing! It made us feel like true explorers. It was a difficult hike, however, we then traveled down into the national park, and explored some Indigenous ruins, and walked around a lovely lagoon with local waterfowl. We had a delicious lunch at a lodge in the park, and then went back to our own lodge for dinner. It was an amazing experience.

On our way back to Quito after visiting the Coxopaxi National Park we stopped at the hotel for lunch. We started with Locro de Papa and then Trout and vegetables. The food was all very tasty and plentiful. Once we had finished the meal we sat in the lounge which had amazing views of the Cocopaxi Volcano.

Chilcabamba is a warm, welcoming lodge in the most beautiful surroundings. With stunning views of Cotopaxi just at the bottom of the garden and from the dining and lounge areas, Chilcabamba really makes you feel encompassed by nature. We had a wonderful time exploring Cotopaxi National Park and then returning to the warmth and wonderful food and drinks at Chilcabamba. Every person that works here makes it so special and service was excellent. We loved sitting looking at the stunning peak of Cotopaxi by the fire outside after a busy day of exploring. Food was excellent and we loved the opportunity to try local dishes every day. Our room was beautifully furnished and the bed was very comfortable; a fire was provided everyday which helped to keep it cosy at night time. Thank you to everyone who works in this wonderful place for an unforgettable stay.

Conveniently located to Cotopaxi, courteous & attentive staff, very clean & comfortable rooms. Meals were excellent & they are able to accomodate special diet requests (submit ahead of visit). We had a family of 5 adults with two rooms & everyone had a terrific experience. Highly recommend!

Hubby and I stayed at Chilcabamba Lodge in order to have access to Cotapaxi National Park. It was a fantastic experience. The room was spotless and cozy with a lovely wood burning stove that the staff got started later in the day as the weather cooled. Breakfast and dinner was delicious! Staff was extremely helpful in arranging a guide into the park and to another park as we requested with timely pick up by the guide. The view of Cotapaxi from the main lodge was spectacular (even with some clouds some days.) We highly recommend!!!

Staying at Chilcabamba Lodge was even better than I could imagine. I want to personally thank Jessica for her incredible service and to all the amazing staff for their detailed attention to us. As ecuadorian I'm very proud of you and all your hard work. I had never been before at Cotopaxi and it was an incredible experience to stay at your lodge. Jessica organized all of our menus and activities with so much care and details. The accommodations were so comfortable and the view of the Cotopaxi from our room is beyond my words. The food was extraordinary, all of it: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I would really recommend staying with you and I hope I can visit you soon one more time.
