I stayed for two nights and would have been happy to stay for many more. This hotel is about 100 years old, judging by the trim, but totally renovated. It is a beautiful building and tastefully decorated. It cost a bit more than a motel, but is definitely worth it. The room was simply delightful. There is a nice little kitchen with a dinette for two, the bath is great, there was even a large walk-in closet, a desk and chair. The bed was comfortable. The heat pump worked well, and this was important as we were having a very cold spell. The neighborhood is great. It is a quite convenient location. There is for example a Vons a block away. They use the Marriot parking garage, which is a block away and costs $15 per night. The lot is secured with a gate and pass card 24/7 and there is a security officer too, so your vehicle should be well-protected. It is only three blocks to the beach. There are several good restaurants within 1-3 blocks. The building itself was quiet. I only saw one person while I was there. I did hear people talking (and yelling) on the streets throughout the night but they didn't bother me. There is, however, a headshop on the first floor that was playing Sixties acid rock throughout the day. The only complaint I have is lack of parking. There are two 24 minute spaces out front for loading and unloading, but anyone can use them, not just guests. When I arrived they were taken, and for a long period of time so I used a loading zone and hoped for the best,.

The property (from the marketing info, is supposed to be a ~100 year old hotel) has the feel of an old-style downtown hotel, unlike the typical roadside hotel/motel which is common today. A few days prior to check-in, I attempted to contact the hotel to confirm my reservation, however there was nobody answering the phone; however, they do respond to text messages. The day you check in, they send you a text message with a link for a form to fill out prior to arrival. However, upon arrival (which was late at night), the desk clerk at check-in was very welcoming and helpful, as were all the desk clerks I interacted with throughout my stay. The room I had (called a full bed studio), was definitely small (compared to modern hotels), however for the price considering the location, was definitely adequate. The room had a microfridge and all the coffee condiments, but surprisingly no coffeemaker. Also, there was no soap or shampoo in the bathroom (besides a bottle of hand soap next to the sink). Housekeeping came to service the room at one point in the stay, something not very common post-COVID. The property is located close to downtown Long Beach, within walking distance of the beach as well as many of the shops and clubs on Broadway. Parking is an additional $18/night, and is in a parking area connected to the alleyway next to the property.

Was supposed to stay at Hotel Main in Dec. 2023 but was taken ill and requested a credit. They agreed to credit me 50% usable within 6 months so in May 2024 I emailed to let them know I'd like to use my credit in June. They immediately re-booked me for a one night stay. Everything went smoothly, check in was a breeze, on-site parking was easy and inexpensive, and the staff were very professional. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, hotel is super clean and looked like each room had a balcony. We even enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and spa on the 2nd level. It's conveniently located in downtown close to numerous attractions and restaurants, we were able to walk around the corner to the Broken Spirits Distillery for an amazing dinner and walk back to the hotel. Highly recommend this hotel and all the wonderful staff we interacted with!

GGreat scotT+$25 Hidden Fee********Hidden Fees********$25+
The midnight check-in guy was friendly and helpful, and disclosed their $25 ”Service Fee” which states $20 on their sign pictured here and then itemized $22+tax on my receipt; the front desk manager was arrogantly defensive and unhelpful telling me to call Expedia when questioned upon check-out and failed to find their fine print on my Trip.com receipts that clearly state all taxes and fees are included in the stated total, bad business practices.

GGuest UserThe hotel is by the sea, the balcony can see the sea view, the swimming pool is at room temperature, there is a bonfire at night, very beautiful hotel, recommended
DDirtyLooks949I always feel comfortable here and there is a beautiful view from the front of the hotel over looking the marina and the city. it's a great place to hideaway and relax.
GGuest UserI stayed for business beginning of August. Check-in was easy and smooth. I chose a rate with a free breakfast. Coupons were given to you at check-in, as long as 2 free bottles of water. Parking costs $27/ per day with in and out privileges'. Pool: did not use. However it did appear very spacious and clean. Plenty of lounge chairs available. no Hot Tub room: I stayed on the 12th floor over looking the Pier. It was very noisy with lots of truck traffic. The windows and walls are very thin so you do hear your neighbors above, next to you, as well as all the traffic outside. Bed was very big and had 4 pillows. A nice desk with chair to sit on. Very large 55” we well. Bathroom was very generous is size. Hot water arrived quickly to the shower. Water pressure is a normal California pressure. Room included a safe. Traveler tip: Request a room as far away from the elevator as possible. The noise of partiers coming back at 2am is very disturbing if you are right next to the elevator lobby. Bar/Restaurant: A mixed reaction here. The food was excellent, and very well priced for the area. The beers and liquor selection was very good for a hotel. However this is where I was unhappy. during 3 of 4 nights, the restaurant and bar could not accept a credit card for payment. cash or room charge only. When you select a room charge, you get a ”Convenience fee” of $6 attached to your bill. Thats for each bill. So if you had lunch and dinner, billed it to your room, that was an extra $12 ”Convenience Fee” added to your bill. Therefor the restaurant lost out on my dinner and night cap purchases due to this crazy policy. Keep in mind, like most all service industry locations, they are suffering from a lack of employment. Fitness Center: Did not visit, however is was on the second level next to the pool Breakfast: Huge selection available. From scratch ordered eggs and omelets, grits, bacon, ham and toast. A variety of cereal as well. A great selection, but its extremely pricy - be prepared. Overall a solid 3. The hotel is very old, and was once an office complex, which I think is whey the windows and walls were so thin. Will not stay again. there are several other hotels in the area that have a much more solid offering and customer service.
Aaceja2020This was a very nice stay, the room and service was good. No complaints. Everyone was very nice and always willing to help when needed. They kept the entrance very clean despite people constantly walking in with snow and dirt on their boots.
WHAT WE LIKED · We stayed in the Gorgeous Penthouse on the top floor and it was beautiful. The photos are accurate other than the obvious fish eye that makes all rooms look larger than they are. We stayed here for CaliVibes festival. I'm a sucker for the historic, eccentric, unique properties with architectural details so this was right up my alley. The kitchen had beautiful tile though we didn't make any meals there - you could have made simple breakfast, lunch, etc. Mainly we used the fridge to store our late night snacks and bottled water. Basic coffee service, dishes, and utensils were provided. The old windows are so lovely and all of them open but you will get the noise from the lively bar downstairs. We had plans to drop in to the Blind Donkey but the music festival really had us beat at the end of each day. The codes for the door and the room worked well. The bed was adequate but not amazing like some hotels have. I had no issues but hubby didn't sleep as well. The bed is in a nook so you do have to kind of crawl into the bed and that was not ideal but once my head hit the pillow, I was out. The Broadlind is surrounded by cafes and restaurants and there was a grocery store just a block or two away. Very convenient location for any events at the convention center or Marina Green Park. WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE · Check-in time is quite late at 4pm. I messaged and called the contact number provided in the email from Broadlind to ask if we could pay for early check-in ($45) on the day we arrived and never received a response to my phone call or my text message. I was happy to pay the fee if it wasn't too late on our arrival day to do so through the ”contactless” system. I did not want to pay the fee and then not be able to check in because we didn't pay far enough in advance. I had read other reviews that mentioned issues when not allowing enough advance notice for the ”incidental deposit form” to be completed before arrival. We had already done that, no issues, but now wanted to add early check-in, and ultimately, did not because of the complete lack of response. Resort fee of $35/day but there are zero resort-style amenities such as pool, gym, cafe, restaurant, or bar. No ice machine or vending machine on site. No cleaning of the room so no restock of coffee service or towels for a multi-day stay. The sofa bed was a futon and super lumpy. Blankets and pillow were provided but no sheet to put down. We found an air mattress but discovered very quickly there was a hole in it. No response to text message or phone call asking for replacement. We debated finding a sporting goods store to buy our own but ended up just roughing it on the futon. There was staff on site but they are quite stand-offish and will ignore you or act like they don't understand what you are saying to avoid helping you. SUMMARY - I adored the property and the location but the excessive ”contactless” policy is a complete turn off. If everything was perfect with the property, an
DDon EThe area being what it is, it was a fair deal for the price. Plenty of decent places to eat in the area. The room was comfortable, but the wood floors were REALLY needed a good cleaning. The staff was pleasant enough that I would consider staying again if the price was right. If you expect to use the pool area you might want to call and ask if it had been cleaned recently. BUT again, the area is what it is, and this Travelodge is ding what it can to make a person comfortable in my opinion.
