Loved the environment, the service, the people, the climate. Loved everything!!!would recommend this hotel to people who wants to go to relax and have a nice time. Sublime Samana is one of the best places you can go in that part of the Dominican Republic.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom with Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi had faulty wiring so we were shocked/electrocuted when we went in it. Luckily I only put my hand in. If I was submerged I could have sustained life threatening injuries. I informed staff but they did not take it seriously.

Overall, nice hotel. Some inconveniences you would expect in DR. w/r/t service etc. Of MAJOR concern is the private jacuzzi in the 2 bedroom apt. As I attempted to test the water temperature with my hand, I was ZAPPED, as there was a short circuit/electrical failure in the tub. I notified the maintenance guy, and he disconnected the power source (fuse). I would warn anyone going to this hotel to be careful as there have been cases where tourists have died (Mexico) from being electrocuted in a Jacuzzi.

I cant say enough about this place and its people. Best time of our lives. Wedding Anniversary 23 celebration - just the 2 of us! Clelisia really made my every wish come true!! Together we prepared every detail as I wanted to surprise my hubby and it was better than expected. Grateful!! Super romantic, great food, amazing beach, location is secluded quiet. Just what I wished for. 15 mins away from main Las Terrenas area

At one level Sublime Samana has it all. Set on a lovely beach, in Instagram ready grounds. Huge suite with well equipped kitchen and living area bigger than at home. Nice big balcony to sit out on a showery afternoon. Although fully booked the hotel was quiet with never any problem getting a table in the restaurants. That’s because many of the suites are actually residential units. It didn’t merit five stars because service wasn’t quite up to scratch. We emailed in advance to ask about pick up from the bus station but had no reply. We had to ask several times to get some shower gel in our room. I’m sure some of this was because no-one spoke (or understood) much English. I don’t expect them to speak English in the supermarket in the town but it’s not unreasonable to expect better in a high end hotel. Overall, needs more charm and customer care to match its undoubted attractiveness.

Resort next door ruins your experience. Don’t go. It’s like a nightclub on the beach. On New Year’s Eve the excessive music started at 3pm in the afternoon! There should be sound walls built between these resorts - it’s really unfortunate.

To be honest - I really don't understand how this place is rated so highly. I am a seasoned world traveller with experiences of luxury and also more off-the-beaten-path locations as well. I would not rate this as a luxury or 5-star hotel. Small luxury hotel should consider removing it from its list. It has its positive aspects and may be worth it for some - but anyone who goes should do research and note the following (pros and cons). #1 Pro - the scenery (pool, beach, beach restaurant) and location is a big plus - true to the pictures. #2 Pro - the staff are very nice and do their very best (problem is more likely senior staff or ownership - see below) #1 Con - the hotel must be a bit dated and suffering from wear and tear which the hotel is ignoring. We had MANY frustrating calls on the lack of hot water in our room and the air conditioning kept breaking. I was exhausted alone in how many times this happened on our trip and the calls I had to make. Again staff are trying hard but even after what seemed to be a repair - things just broke soon after. It's obvious the place needs some major maintenance investment - my guess is ownership simply doesn't want to make the investment on improving and is just hoping no one complains too hard. #2 Con - activities/excursions should be very well researched. We booked a VERY expensive, private boat charter because we have little girls and like the flexibility. When the shuttle arrived that's the first time they said the ride was a little over and hour. It was more like 2 hours. We spent a lot of money to be in a mini van for 3.5-4 hours in one day. Before trip were showed pics of the type of boat (decent sized fishing boat yacht/catamaran like). When the shuttle arrived to pick us up, we were told the we couldn't use a big boat. When we arrived we were shocked at the boat we were given for VERY expensive private charter ( more than $600). see pic below. My 8 year old cried most of the time on the boat because the water was rough and she was scared. We tried to make the best of the day because we were 2 hours away but we returned early because it was a joke. #3 Con - eating options are limited (good but limited) Overall - if you are a couple that wants to only chill at the beach with drinks and a book. This could be a very decent trip. Anyone looking for anything else (family, groups), I would beware about the review

BEWARE OF THIS HOTEL. I suspect that anyone that has given this hotel a good rating just has never stayed at a nice hotel before. The stay started off horribly before we even arrived, multiple emails to the hotel to setup things on the trip, transportation and more to literally no reply. I had to have my girlfriend call multiple times to get them to do ANYTHING. We knew multiple people on the trip who had NO HOT WATER the entire trip, all the appliances in the room are old, rusty and outdated. The bathrooms are in disrepair, the furniture is so poor quality and the showers barely work if at all. The employees are nice but it’s clear that management doesn’t have a strong grip on how to run a hotel and ownership obviously isn’t interested in maintaining a property for the long term, this place needs a renovation badly. I booked a tennis lesson and a 21 year old kid showed up who could barely play, I ended up cancelling the next days lesson because I felt like I could teach the teacher, I had to take it upon myself to find my own coach on Google and made my own booking. When I had the hotel book me a car to take me to the place I found and booked myself, they instructed the driver to take me to the wrong location. I had to then coordinate my own taxi to pick me up and drive me to the correct location. Overall, this hotel is 1-2 stars at best, I’ve stayed at nicer Holiday Inn’s and Marriott…. I never write reviews but I felt compelled to make sure you DO NOT stay at this hotel. Bernardo the manager on duty obviously has poor management abilities and an inability to properly manage his staff and create an environment that make hospitality possible, the hotel should consider firing him as well as the overall management team - this hotel is run poorly. Hope to see the place change, it gives las Terrenas a bad name. They should be embarrassed. Sadly I didn’t take enough photos to scare you away but don’t trust the photos of this place online, each room is different; the furniture is cheap and the rooms are poorly taken care of.

Fantastic: beautiful understated luxury. One of the best staff I have had at a hotel. Courteous, friendly, helpful. Food is very good, excellent chef. Manager of food and beverage extremely helpful. Arranged for a pizza making event for my family. 2 bedroom Casitas was splendid. We will back . We stayed 18 nights. One of the best beaches I have stayed at.
