Writing about our recent stay at 20 Temple Place from October 18th to October 21st, 2024. The experience was unacceptable on many fronts. 1. Elevator Failure ~ When we booked this rental, one of the key features was the availability of an elevator, as my husband (age 77, with a hip replacement) and I (age 74) cannot easily navigate stairs. Unfortunately, after the first day, the elevator broke down and remained out of service for the remainder of our stay. We had to climb up and down four flights of stairs multiple times a day, which was physically grueling, especially for my husband due to his medical condition. What is more concerning is that, when we reached out about this issue, we were informed that they are already aware of the problem, yet neither disclosed this to us before our arrival nor made any efforts to resolve it during our stay. 2. Substandard Conditions of the Property ~ Aside from the elevator, the overall condition of the apartment was far below the expectations set by your listing. Specific issues include: • The bed: It was like sinking into a marshmallow with no support, making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep. • Street noise: The noise levels were unbearable at night, leading to very little rest. • Shower issues: The water temperature fluctuated unexpectedly, and the water pressure was inconsistent, which made showering unpleasant. • Couch: It had no support—when sitting, the bottom simply gave way, making it uncomfortable to use. • TV: It did not function at all, displaying endless error messages. • Cleanliness: We found dirty socks from a former tenant under the bed, which is completely unacceptable in terms of cleanliness. • Kitchen: It was poorly equipped with nothing useful for cooking, despite the listing suggesting otherwise. We would have relocated, however, all hotels were booked as this was a popular weekend in Boston.
