GGuest UserFrom the lovely welcome we received on arrival to our sad departure 3 days later we thought the Chiara Lodge was a great choice for a cheaper base than Venice itself. Fab breakfast with a good selection, great service, comfy beds, clean well appointed rooms, free safe, kettle and complimentary beverages. The WiFi was a bit slow and hit and miss in both our rooms. Handy for the train and buses and supermarket but little else was of interest to us in the area. I advise head up to the square in Mestre for more choice of restaurants and bars if you aren’t spending the evening in Venice itself.

SSirVery neat and friendly environment. Amazing staff ready for guest's enquiries. My earlier perception of how the hostel would look completely vanished. Very comfortable beds. Good discipline among the guests. However, renting Towels at €5 seemed ridiculous to me. And also, Duvet covers should be provided instead of the additional bed sheet given. Nevertheless, I enjoyed staying and hope to return when visiting Italy again.

XXieBXGreat location to stay outside of Venice. Easy to take a train to Venice as train station is within walking distance from hotel. If you drive, free parking behind the hotel. The hotel room is clean & comfortable, breakfast spread is quite decent & delicious. One of the popular hotel in Mestre.

GGuest UserThis was a convenient location as it was across the street from the Venice Mestre train station. I personally used the train station throughout my stay so this was a plus for me. There were several restaurants near that were amazing in which I recommend trying Pasta & Pizza e non solo. I would also recommend eating breakfast in the restaurant connected to the lobby. Cleanliness wise the water from the shower would leak out. We were given new towels and trash was taken out everyday. I am from the U.S. so I am used to AC systems. The hotel did have AC although the air was barely coming out. This plus the fact that I traveled to Italy when it was under a heat advisory, I had a hard time cooling down. All in all it is a convenient stay

GGuest UserThis service apartment is close to train station and bus station. In addition, a big supermarket is just 5-minute walk from the apartment. The staff are nice and friendly and willing to answer our questions and share the information. The facilities are clean and tidy. It’s a good choice to stay here.

SSam TuffsThe atmosphere in the lobby was actually pretty amazing! There was a bar, pool table, big TV and plenty of space to sit and chill with your friends! The room we stayed in was quite nice but unfortunately we only had one problem. I stayed with my partner and we had one pillow each, and it was the worst pillow I probably ever slept with. It was way too soft, the stuffing always seemed to be out of place and it felt uncomfortable at times. But not really something I’d complain about once you get used to it

GGuest UserWhen we arrived we realised that all the previous reviews were correct. The area is not safe at all and there are men hanging around on the corner of the hotel for hours on end. I know this isn’t the hotels fault, however, there’s no extra security in place and hotel reception staff aren’t 24/7. On the 3rd night, due to there not being aircon, we had to leave the window open (these windows open 2 different ways - like a normal window or a safety way where only the top opens towards the room). At 3.30am we were woken up to an intruder who was trying to break into our room through trying to open the window from the outside by using a metal screwdriver to open it. We had to shout, scream and push the door shut and as two ladies in a room we couldn’t get back to sleep. There was no phone in the room to contact reception, which wouldn’t have mattered anyway as there was no one around. It was horrible & when we tried to tell the lady at reception the next day, she didn’t do anything, just said she’d check the cameras like she didn’t believe us. We were in such a hurry to leave the hotel. We were in a room separate from the main hotel, down the road, which looked like old council flats. The room itself is very basic. Nothing in the mini fridge, our window was broken on the first day and we had to wait 30 minutes for a handy man to come and fix it. We only got one pillow and even though we asked for another one, we never got it. The beds were really hard and our bedding wasn’t changed, just made everyday. The shower was exceptionally small but it was powerful. you can hear every single thing that happens in the rooms next door. We were woken up by people showering in different rooms at 6am. The breakfast is very dissatisfying. There are two sittings - on our first day the breakfast lady refused us entry as our names hadn’t been put on the sheet where you have to say which sitting - an error by the reception staff as we had booked the night before. The breakfast itself had all ran out by the time we were able to sit down. 1 bit of cheese left and no fruit. Very basic so we decided to get breakfast out the next day. As there are no reception staff, we couldn’t check out before 8am, however we had to be at the airport for 8.30 so we went to reception to hand the key back in. The lady was very rude and told us we should’ve checked out last night? How would we have got into our room? she also was rude and told us that we should’ve booked our taxi the night before too (even though the previous staff who were very helpful said come to reception in the morning. We left feeling very unsafe and worried that we hadn’t been able to check out. We were hoping to speak to the manager but the woman just walked away. It’s such a shame as the younger staff were really helpful and friendly at the start. But it’s not safe - I wouldn’t feel safe on my own and I didn’t feel safe with two of us. It is close to the train station, but you don’t feel safe walking there
