This hotel has certainly improved, the bed was comfortable, the room was spotless and the food was good. However, some staff require training in basic interpersonal skills. We were told we could have breakfast from 8 to 10am, went down at 9:30, the staff were snapping plates from our table, no bread for toast, when I requested more the waitress (with a New Zealand accent) reluctantly threw a basket with 4 slices on the counter and said we are officially closed now. We had a fabulous waitress at dinner the previous evening, she could teach the other waitress about basic manners and what is expected from staff working in the hospitality sector. When checking out the lady behind reception took the room keys and just muttered ”all good”, no pleasantries e.g. ”How was your stay?” ”Was everything satisfactory?”

Drilling service, cordial reception. Rich activities and ancient history are deposited in every corner of the castle...all of which make people feel more comfortable and relaxed. Going to Ashford Castle Hotel is not to enjoy its luxury (it is not luxurious) but to enjoy time travel, experience the architectural art, decorative art, art of life, extreme service, and the beautiful surroundings of Ireland 800 years ago. natural scenery.

I stayed two nights here this week. I had reserved a room for single occupancy but had to pay the full amount which was for a triple room. I felt this was rather steep as I only used one bed, one set of towels and ate one breakfast each day. The room itself was well furnished and the bed linen was white and fresh. The bath towel was on the small side. The kettle and tea tray was very welcome but the provision of only 2 teabags was a bit meagre ( considering I was paying for three people). The bathroom was lovely and the shower powerful and the cubicle spacious. I was very surprised that neither the bedroom not the bathroom were tidied at all. I would expect the bed made and the wash basin cleaned as an absolute minimum. The bathroom window was directly behind the toilet so one had to keep the blind closed at all times. Frosted glass, at least in the lower half would be ideal. The breakfast was adequate. The layout looked very attractive but I was surprised to see “ shop-bought” Irish brown bread and tinned fruit. The tea and coffee was plentiful and very good. The cooked breakfast was pretty good. I ordered the small breakfast, ie one egg and one rasher etc. On the second morning I asked for some mushrooms to be added and they were. Although I should say it was as they served 4 quarters of a mushroom. The waitresses were charming and friendly. I would not stay again or recommend it as it does not represent value for money.

The perfect venue in a gorgeous location for a special family gathering. From the beginning the team at this hotel were absolutely fantastic . After arranging a group event in their hotel they were so helpful arranging rooms , spa treatments and food . Beds were so comfortable and rooms with lots of space , the food was absolutely fabulous for all meals in the bar and such a nice breakfast and evening meal in Luseas Restaurant which was absolutely fabulous. The spa is so lovely if you would like a nice treatment their team are outstanding professionals. The staff were so helpful, kind and friendly. Booked over the phone for a Sat night, hotel put the booking into a Thursday night the month before. I didn't spot this detail on the confirmation as I've never encountered this issue before. While on return from business travel I get a Call on the Thursday night a month prior to ask if I am checking in, confirmation had been sent but I missed due to work travel. The following Saturday after this mess up I called to confirm my accommodation (for a burial of an English relative) the hotel then informed me they were now fully booked for said night, but had a room and would review and call me back - I followed up with an e-mail. I received no feedback, and 2 weeks before I need the accommodation I call and just get an absolute horrific response from the Manager - threats to debit my card, and she tells me my card was attempted for debit but rejected. Also told I need not discuss what happened as hotel knew it all Hopefully I will figure something else out as I have to travel - but in all my life I never experienced such AWFUL COMMUNICATION. Mistakes are made but own them - I should have checked confirmations, but am not responsible for entering the wrong date - the hotel did this.

Visited here for a work outing recently. Very impressive hotel with excellent facilities. Food and drink was served to the highest quality. The rooms were very spacious and well presented. Would highly recommend this hotel and will hopefully stay again in the future.

This hotel was an unexpected gain for us. The location is a bit far, but the activities are very rich and the children can play for several days. It's a pity that we didn't play enough! The environment is good and the stay is very comfortable!

Marian and Tommy are absolutely fantastic. They had wonderful recommendations, a lovely home, and fantastic conversation. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. The bed was quite comfortable (we didn’t find ourselves sinking into the middle like you do sometimes) and the room was nicely decorated and inviting. I would absolutely advise you to stay here!

Cannot fault anything about the house, pristine condition. Has everything you need for self catering. 10 min walk/2 min drive to beach which has pub and rest right beside it. 10 min drive to supervalue shop & chemist. Highly recommended. Stayed with partn
