We always stay a few days in Warwick each year as our 'getaway' but this is the first time staying at The Old Coffee Tavern and Wow! What an amazing place! A good old fashioned pub with beautiful rooms above, all managed brilliantly by Heather and her team. Service is brilliant, warm and friendly and nothing too much trouble - will definitely use this place as our go-to in future! Thank you Heather, Zoe and the lovely lady who keeps everything sparkling clean 🤗
We chosen the CL purely based on location as we were attending a wedding, arrived 1:30 (check in time was 2 pm) doors lock, rang the bell , waited 10 minutes, the pleasant cleaner saw us and opened saying my colleague will be with you shortly, waited another 15 minutes for the attendant to show up, was pleasant and allowed us to access the room which was appreciated . Room was big and tidy with sofa bed that was so thin you could feel the springs when sleeping, main bed was ok ,carpet was dirty with stains everywhere ,windows were double glazed with broken lock so road noise was constant. Ceiling light was out but we didn’t care. Check out time is 10:30 and no regrets we didn’t book with breakfast. Attendant was very clear if no staff available just drop the key and leave which was the case. Water pressure was strong and enough but no hot or even warm water No safe in the room , no hair dryer also no room service or reception to call , we returned 10:30 pm and the shutters were down on the service / reception area. I’d recommend only if good price and you must stay in the area, wouldn’t stay here again , I believe it should be named Inn instead of hotel .
Thanks for a lovely stay! For the price of the room it was worth every penny and more especially as I am a regular lodger. Will definitely look to come back.

Stayed for a couple of days whilst we visited local historical sites. Room was excellent as was the pool and general facilities. Was surprised the bar evening menu is the same as the main restaurant - seems little point in not availing oneself of the restaurant since it is much nicer and costs nothing more! Many thanks to the bar staff (who sang happy birthday) and Rieann and Ionda in the restaurant for their friendly service.
3 separate rooms booked as travelling with friends and their children. We arrived and there was a queue to check in, quickly checked in though. Rooms a little dated with marks on the walls, holes in duvet cover and pillow case in my room- thankfully I was staying alone so could use the undamaged pillow cases. Good night's sleep apart from the aircon in one room wouldn't work properly and that room was roasting. Breakfast the next morning was an absolute sham. There was very little food available, no bakery items. As soon as stuff was restocked it was gone in seconds. One lady waited over 30 mins for scrambled eggs. We were told upon arrival to breakfast that they had no sausages, but very little of anything else seemed to be available. When the lady who wanted the scrambled eggs complained and got a refund for their family of 4, wish we'd complained on the day as the complaint I sent direct to the hotel and the review I sent to them via their email request were both ignored. Young staff in the restaurant were joking about the lady who was asking for a refund and I don't think it's something that was suitable for them to be doing. The manager on the day went into the kitchen and shouted at the staff (we think there were only 3 in there on the day) and it was audible to the restaurant it was that loud.
The location of the hotel is very good at a golf course in the suburbs, very close to the highway but you have to drive. The only complaint is that the breakfast is really bad and everything else is pretty good
We have stayed at this hotel on three occasions now (once with Shearings and twice independently. On arrival the receptionist was friendly and asked how our journey had been as weather was awful. We stayed in the modern block room 63 and were very happy with the room. The hotel is being refurbished and you can tell. The carpet fitters were there during our stay and the entrance to the block is clean and fresh. On arriving in the room we could only see one set of towels and we had a problem with our Tv but the receptionist came immediately to our room to help us. The second lot of towels were in the wardrobe. Our room was very clean and spacious. The only one thing more hangers would have been useful. We had evening meal in the restaurant. The food was very good. Myself and my husband had the ham hock terrine followed by blade of beef and myself had scampi. Food was hot and a good portion size. We both enjoyed our food. Staff were efficient and helpful. We had breakfast two mornings. It wasn’t buffet as we had had previously due to hotel being quiet but you could order hot food ie full English. There were fruit juices cereals yoghurt fruit continental meat and cheeses also alongside bread to make your own toast and pastries such as croissants and pain au chocolate. You get your own drinks from the two coffee machines which are easy to use. We had a drink in the bar both nights but the first night it was just us and another gentleman. It was slightly busier the next evening. The cleaner who serviced our room was also pleasant to us. We enjoyed our stay and would return. I know that some of the reviews on here are harsh but we had an enjoyable break. Mr and Mrs King
We stayed on 11th July 2024 for 1 night in room 6 . We loved our room . Spacious , very clean and bed was so comfy . We ate in restaurant downstairs and I had galinhada a traditional Brazilian dish and it was delicious . My wife had steak which she said tasted fabulous . Highly recommend. We slept very well . Now there is one part of the review that’s very important to mention . The staff are amazing but one person in particular shone and that’s Innes . This wonderful lady is first class and knows exactly how to treat guests and diners . If anyone wants to see how they should treat guests , go watch Innes . A true credit to the kings head . We would definitely return and appreciate good service and kind staff . Thankyou x
We stayed here as our car broke down on the way to our holiday. We were travelling with young children and a disabled person. The staff at this hotel couldn’t have been more helpful. The service was beyond outstanding. The children were upset and disappointed and they were fantastic with them. They really couldn’t do enough to help. Kasey was especially lovely. A credit to your company. The next time we are in the area we will absolutely stay here again! I should also note that the hotel was lovely and clean and we had plenty of space in our family room. The shower was great. Breakfast was a good selection and hot and delicious. The bar was open until 1am which was particularly useful for us given the circumstances! 🙈😂
I needed somewhere to stay overnight for a business trip, and this venue looked a decent place to stay. On arrival, the staff were welcoming, and the pub looked to be a nice venue. It was disappointing not to have parking, not a massive issue as there was a car park a short walk away. The stairwell leading from the pub to the accommodation, however, left a lot to be desired and left me fearing for what I had let myself in for. It was somewhat reminiscent of a cross-between a 1980s office block and RIgsby's accommodation. Thankfully, the room was an improvement with plenty of space, and the usual tea and coffee facilities. There were, however, some significant issues which would stop me from returning: When I tried to have a bath, I realised after running the water for long enough to fill, that it was almost empty. On checking, the plug sat proud, meaning water was emptying almost as fast as it was filling. The most concerning part was only discovered late in the evening. I had been out for the evening, returning around 11 pm. When I returned, I found the pub to be closed and my key would not fit the lock. Thankfully I could hear someone inside, who eventually heard me banging on the door and window. Heaven knows how I would have got in had I arrived back any later! If there was another way to get in, I wasn't informed when I checked in. I also didn't expect to have to be back by a curfew - I haven't had one of those since childhood! Shortly after I got back, another guest asked if I knew how to get back out again - I don't know if he managed it in the end.
