The room was very clean. Flexible check-in and out. We arrived there very early morning, hoping to leave our luggage, but Hakim, the owner, let us have the room instead. We really appreciate it because we left our home at 4am and were so exhausted. WiFi was good too. My friend and I had to work remotely for a few hours on our checkout day, so we did it in a waiting room(shared space) with cosy sofas. and there was no problem with WiFi. About 10 mins walk to the town centre and a small local shop (Morrisons) is within 3 min walk. Overall, we’d like to thank Hakim for a warm welcome!
Trying to visit Jersey for the first time on a budget isn't an easy mission! We were a little apprehensive about staying at this Premier Inn based on some reviews but it's fair to say it exceeded expectation. The location is tucked away in a quiet location but not far from the centre of St Helier. Lovely little Millennium Garden opposite. Really large room with everything we need. Availability of topping up our tea/coffee/milk when we needed to. Option of housekeeping or not which we preferred not for such a short stay. Incredibly friendly (and patient!) staff when I locked both key cards in my room. On the last night we couldn't find anywhere to eat at short notice on Saturday night so we dined here. Took advantage of the £26.99 offer where we had a starter and a main with a drink for dinner and then combination of cooked and continental breakfast with juices/hot drinks. The food was incredibly tasty! I particularly liked the Thai curry and they gave us a box to take the uneaten portion of large pizza away. I think the man who served us was called ”Harley”. He had flown in to cover, I think. He was so friendly and helpful. On checkout I didn't catch the lady's name but she was the same. We will DEFINITELY be back!
The service / staff are amazing here. There is a Portuguese girl on reception who is really sweet and another European girl on reception too. There is a cocktail specialist in the bar who really knows his stuff (I think he’s Indian).
Staff at the breakfast in the morning are really good too! Try the oat milk latte.
Big disappointments are: the single beds are uncomfortable in the twin rooms with awful pillows. The pool in the spa is a bit dirty, the lighting gives the perception that the environment is cleaner than it actually is. The breakfast has no fresh fruit, surely you can provide daily watermelon, fresh pineapple and melon etc.
Very good service, the front desk is very enthusiastic, and the room service is also very good:
1. After each room cleaning, they will help fold the pajamas, replenish water and food, and leave the name of the cleaner
2. The front desk answered the phone very quickly. We encountered three problems, all of which were solved within 5 minutes.
3. The location is excellent, only 3 minutes away from the bus station, behind is the city center (central market), and it is very close to all the Internet celebrity restaurants (except Oyster box and other restaurants on the beach)
4. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are large, the facilities are new, especially the bathroom, the supporting facilities are sufficient and use Th White Company suits.
Very good living experience, although the location is a bit far from the city center, but the price is also corresponding to the affordable point, and the facilities, environment, service are good, there is a supermarket next to it, the sea is opposite the road, very quiet. Also bring a bar. Recommended ~
Great accommodation and location. Stayed here to explore Jersey with my friend. Merlin House is ideally situated for walking into town, the beach and for both the bus station and ferry terminal. Staff are friendly and informative. Facilities are excellent. We made good use of the kitchen (quality appliances and pots!). The tv was better than we expected - it was a smart tv, so we were able to login to our various platforms. Bathroom was well equipped - powerful shower and quality toiletries. The apartment had plenty of living space. Jersey is a lovely place to visit and we found the islanders so friendly.
This is an amazing hotel. It is in a great location only about 4 mins from the main shopping area. Our room was large, very clean and well decorated. Food was amazing with a varied menu for our evening meal. The staff were fantastic, attentive, friendly and very hardworking. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Jersey.
I have deliberately split this into two and ideally would have given this overall a 3.5 rating. Food wise it is a 4 all the way. We ate in the restaurant on our first evening and the quality and portion size were very good, the wine was reasonably priced and the service good. The breakfasts were promptly served with a good choice especially on the cooked side. Hotel wise is a 3. We asked to move rooms as we didn't want to be next to the terrace on the ground floor and this was accommodated. The room we ended up in was very clean and the bed was comfortable with everything you need. The tea tray was well stacked. The downside is the general decor and furnishings. Clearly all the money has gone on the downstairs and it just needs some TLC. All the staff outside the restaurant were pleasant enough but nothing to rave about as have seen with other reviews. We would come again as the walk to town was only 15 mins but it would be hard to stay in winter as the fan was needed to mask the road noise.
We thought the rooms were great and roomy. The shower pressure on the top floor was very poor so we had baths which filled up nice and hot and quickly! The lift was out of order the whole week which was a bit of a pain, literally as my friend has a very bad ankle injury. But, overall very happy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Christina, the boss was delightful. No breakfast supplied so cook your own in your kitchenette. The hotel is nicely located and there is parking available. Would definitely recommend.
I have spent some time looking over the reviews for this hotel & find my review lies somewhere in the middle of these. Pros -excellent wi-fi connection -loved indoor pool & jacuzzi (I went around 830 every morning) -friendly bar man. Bar area reminded me of an old library -balcony was a good idea as could unwind after a day sight-seeing -tea/coffee-making facilities -dated but I rather liked the 80s vibe! Cons -didn't opt for breakfast as felt £10 supplement a bit steep -2 single beds pushed together to make double bed -quite a few stairs (but has small lift) -lack of pool supervision I didn't make use of the outdoor pool but the indoor pool was warm (I recommend using the jacuzzi afterwards as felt freezing going into the pool after the jacuzzi!). The lack of pool supervision did concern me slightly as who would know it anyone got into difficulty? There was a heavily pregnant lady there for a while one morning with a toddler, not ideal if someone needed help in the water! The changing room was very small with no window so change quickly! Only 1 shower also! I brought a small towel from my room for my hair (in addition to one you get when you sign into the pool). I was glad I had the foresight to upgrade to a superior room which I definately think enhanced my stay. Our room was bright & clean & I slept well. Some noise from stomping upstairs but didn't trouble me too much. Very close to town so that was a bonus. Despite the bar man plugging the pizza place next door we gave it a miss; never looked like any customers went there. We had a meal in the Indian Ocean nearby & it was delicious! Quite a few steps so not for the very elderly or wheelchair users, I'm quite young but have knee problems so I made slow progress up steps & into the lift! This was my first trip to Jersey so although the Apollo was not bad at all I would probably stay somewhere like the picturesque St Aubin nearby next time. Lots of comments about rude staff; I didn't really notice that; lady at swimming pool very quiet (when she was there). Bar man from Kenya very lovely; we had a nightcap for 2 nights running just to have a chat with him.
