A big thank you for your kind hospitality during our stay right after hurricane Helen. We were told to evacuate Lake lure 2 days after the storm and needed a place to stay. Your staff welcomed us and took great care of us for our 1 night stay, and we thank you so much for your kindness. The Inn is lovely and would stay here again when town gets back on its feet.

As the evening wore on and it got darker, I decided to turn on the lamp near the bed. I couldn’t get it to turn on, but kept pressing with my thumb over and over and finally it turned on, but then when I tried to turn it off, I couldn’t get it to turn off so I was worried about the fact that I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep with the light on. I realized it wasn’t working, so I went down to the front desk to ask for help. I thought it would be a simple fix of someone coming to the room and showing me possibly that I wasn’t doing something right. Instead, the guy at the front desk at 8:30 PM on August 21 had so much attitude I was shocked. When I told him the lamps weren’t working he told me that engineering wasn’t on duty. Then he told me there was nothing he could do that. I would have to use the overhead light which was extremely bright and not conducive to sleep. I asked if I could move to another room and I was told the hotel was booked. It is not booked. The parking lot doesn’t have that many cars in it. When I questioned him about a solution, he said he didn’t have one once again with attitude. The woman standing next to him nicely, offered to find a lamp. As I was walking away, he leaned off over the counter and yelled down the hallway. “what do you want me to do rebuild the room for you??!” I didn’t know what sparked this disrespectful attitude as I had not been disrespectful to him. I stopped and turned toward him and said you need to just stop talking. As I walked away, I heard him say “you need to stop… “ I didn’t hear what he said because I was heading toward the elevator. Management needs to rethink hiring practices with respect to the guy. Others I have encountered at this hotel have been very nice but he was beyond rude and borderline abusive.

I think for $25 it was a great deal. The food was delicious. I had omelette and it was perfect. You know how they can be runny, well this was not! I also liked the biscuits! The fruit was fresh. If you stay away from the drinks, really reasonable price for brunch.

We were told our room was in the adjacent motor lodge. We have stayed in these types of rooms before without any problems. In this case the room could not have been any larger than 10 by 14 feet. There was no TV , no chair or desk of any kind, and the sink drain was clogged. We went to the check in desk and secured a refund before finding another hotel. Lake Lure is a bit like Blowing Rock. Too small of a town overrun with too many tourists.

The Inn is beautiful! The lobby and downstairs is gorgeous! This was our first time staying here. There was a boat and car show going on so the rooms available were not plentiful. We stayed in a queen on the second floor. The room was VERY small, not even a chair to sit in. The pillows were wonderful and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was TINY and there were NO rails to hold on to in the shower, which was only a shower - no tub. The bathroom is NOT conducive for older guests. The staff was exceptional!! When checking out I made comment of the issues we had about the room. I was then told that we should have stayed in the room with two queen beds with tub, shower, and rails, on the first floor. Oh well, I will know next time. The bar is great and so is the complementary breakfast room. Other than our room, everything was fantastic! If in the area again, will definitely stay, just in a different room! We did not stay for the Sunday Brunch but wish we had! It looked like there was going to be ALOT of food! YUM

What a wonderful place to stay. A time capsule for the 1920’s but with new mattresses. Quiet, beautiful and easy to walk to restaurants close by. Absolutely a trip for my husband and I.

We came for a family wedding. Every aspect of the Inn was perfect! The room was clean and the housekeeping service was great. The food from a dinner in the bar to Sunday brunch and the reception food was all top notch! Loved every bite- quail, chowder, prime rib, omelets , and the wait staff- excellent. The front desk staff was super helpful. Some family members opted for air bnb- we arw sooo glad we stayed in this one of a kind , classic inn. Nevermind the nay sayers in other reviews- you will enjoy it all here and the beautiful mountains surrounding Lake Lure.

Love this historic inn. Pet friendly and great staff. Loved the ambience and old furnishings. Decent sized pool and great brunch. Will stay again next time we come to visit the lake! Prices are reasonable and it’s very clean. Highly recommend

Our party of five went to Easter Brunch today with high hopes of a wonderful experience. We have never been, and thought it would be great to try given the menu we had seen and favorable reviews we had heard. We drove an hour each way, and it was far from worth the time. The servers were very inattentive. Drinks were rarely refilled unless we asked. Sadly, the food left a lot to be desired. Everything was overcooked and lacked flavor. The sausage links were difficult to cut into, sides like the mac and cheese and stuffing were extremely dry, and the beef and other proteins were overcooked as well. I was offered “rare” roast beef which was dry and cooked beyond well done. I honestly barely ate because it was just that bad. I never even had dessert because by then I was just frustrated, and no one in my party seemed to enjoy anything they tried anyways. Our server not once asked how anything was, and just brought the bill. I asked to speak to a manager. The manager finally came and I was greeted literally with the words, “manager.” Not..’Hi, I’m so and so, I understand you asked for a manager…what can I help you with…’. I explained how disappointed we all were, and that other than the cocktails, everything was very disappointing. She said she would see what she could do. Never apologized or anything. The server returned with a new bill where she had taken 25% off of my $50 charge, but nothing done for anyone else. The manager never returned. So…$200 for the three of us for an awful experience, and it looks like I’ll be making another meal at some point in the distant future because we all walked away hungry. The icing on the cake was when we were leaving we were walking down a straight path through the restaurant and a server started to walk through us to cross and then very loudly exclaimed, “Well okay then!” as if we had somehow cut her off when she was literally trying to walk through us. Extremely rude behavior. We will never go back.
