Novotel la Rochelle Centre

Very hard to find any sort of fault in our four day stay at Novotel La Richelle Central. Nothing is too much trouble for the super helpful staff, kind gift for my partner on her birthday, great value, lovely room overlooking the park, plenty of things for the kids to do…. quiet spaces to do some work. This is a great brand, it’s never let me down and the property here in La Rochelle is the epitome of all the high standards that Novotel set themselves. Highly recommended and without reservation. We will definitely be back soon!

I think this hotel has a lot of potential. The food had many choices and was very nice. The beds were comfy, and the room was a bit small but clean. The pool was a bit dirt. It had green on the tiles and had some dirt floating round. Also, there were only a couple of sunbeds, I thought the temperature was nice but got a bit cold at night.

We stayed three nights. The hotel is located in a quiet and green area, and the old town is within walking distance. Good secure and free parking is available. It is a large hotel with restaurant, bar, and a swimming pool. Our room was spacious and nice with a comfy bed, mini fridge, safe, and coffee maker. Also fresh and clean drinking water was available on each floor. The team members at the front desk did a great job, whereas housekeeping was less impressive and the cleaning just ok. Breakfast was included in our stay and was a somewhat mixed experience. Some of the hot items were ok, but the bacon greasy and not well prepared. The coffee was good. A special barbecue evening with live music was arranged one of the evenings. The food was of a very mixed quality, with some of the beef being raw and inedible. We complained about this to the waiter, but were only offered a better knife. Also the accompanying music was ok, but too loud for comfort (unless this was supposed to be the main attraction.) The mediocre performance of the restaurant is the reason for the above rating, which would otherwise be higher.

My familycand I stayed here for a couple of nights. We are a fanily of 4 and stayed in 1 rrom The two main things going for this hotel are the secure car park and the location. The car park has decent sized spaces and is gated at night. Location: It's a 5 to 10 minute walk into the port. The beach is also walkable in 5 to 10 minutes. The staff were very friendly, too. The rooms are a bit dated. The aircon does work, but it isn’t powerful. You need to shut the curtains when it's sunny, so the aircon has a chance of keeping the room cool. The bar/restaurant is pleasant enough. The breakfast was okay but we though it was quite expensive for what it is. 18 euro per adult. One of the days we went to a local cafe and spent half as much. The toilet is on its own and has no basin or sanitiser. This means you touch 5 door handles before you can wash your hands. Yuk! Maybe we are fusy. The TV was good, decent storage and a good fridge. The room was too small for 4, really. We only slept in there, so it was no big deal. It would have been fine for 2 or 3 people. All things considered, we would stay here again.

We stayed at the Novotel La Rochelle on 1 August. The hotel is located in pleasant parkland, a short 5 - 10 minute walk from the Port. There is ample secure car-parking and our room was perfectly comfortable for our short stay. We didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment on that but the bar area is a comfortable space to enjoy a couple of drinks.

Three day stay with family, stayed in a family room with my wife and 13 year old daughter. Well located, property is a ten minute stroll in to La Rochelle at a leisurely pace. Secure gated car park with no height restrictions, some spaces will allow a cycle carrier (around the edges). There are 3/4 electric charging points. The hotel is showing its age a little, the grounds around the swimming pool could be better maintained. Likewise though the rooms are kept clean, they look and feel a little tatty. Overall staff are helpful and accommodating, good breakfast service. We’d pre-booked an evening meal on the first night as we didn’t want to find a restaurant after travelling. Unfortunately the service was chaos and the food was substandard, my wife had to send both her starter and main course back - basic food preparation on both counts. Waiting staff initially tried to convince us that there was no problem, we escalated with the hotel director and the issue was addressed to our satisfaction. Albeit with an overall experience that you don’t need when you’re on holiday. Take the evening meal experience out and in all it’s okay, but that’s all.
